10 years of Destroy Boys! wow. it’s been the most interesting ride. we started the band in October at 2am in my childhood bedroom, uploaded a song to Bandcamp, and never stopped going from there.
Saturday’s show was a beautiful moment for that 15 year old me that lives inside of me. i looked out on all the kids in the crowd and felt so happy for young me. it’s all I ever wanted. when we were writing Sorry, Mom all i could ever envision was a night like that. I’m the luckiest ever.
it’s been really hard too. I don’t think a lot of entertainers are comfortable acknowledging how hard it can be, which I understand. in 2023, we were on tour for almost 9 months straight (2-3 day breaks in between different tours). i had a psychosomatic seizure on stage in Berlin, I had to have a surgical injection into my cervical spine, i’ve had to do years of therapy because of stupid bullshit we’ve encountered, the list goes on. but I truly, as corny as it sounds, would not trade it for anything in the world.
none of it would have been possible without my rockstar Alexia. they are a force of nature, a TRUE born artist, a virtuoso made of the stars. they were born to play and write music. i’m just lucky to be on the journey with them.
music and Destroy Boys are everything i am. Destroy Boys is for you as much as it is for me. i’m grateful that you all love DeBo and that i get to experience music with you. i hope it has healed you in some way. thank you for giving me this life.
