"ABUSE OF PERFECT DATA " di Viola Casartelli @violashocking
ABUSE OF PERFECT DATA explores generational memory through digitized 16mm footage shot by my grandfather in the 1950s and 1960s. By reworking this archival material, I aim to juxtapose the slow, analog world of the past with the fast-paced, consumer-driven reality of my generation.
The project’s title provokes reflection through the concept of "data," creating a bridge between the analog and digital eras, highlighting the sense of disconnection, uncertainty about the future, and the numbing of anxiety that characterize today’s youth experience. It examines the generational boundary where personal heritage intersects with social and technological changes, bringing to light profoundly different perceptions that define each era.
This project calls for a collective awareness to navigate our ever-evolving cultural and technological landscapes and emphasizes the importance of fostering a dialogue that transcends generational boundaries.
