What I played at the weekend in a Regents Opera study weekend. Great fun watching the notes fly past. #regentsopera

What I did on Sunday: rehearsed Wagner’s longest opera, The Mastersingers of Nuremberg. 109 pages, many, many 1,000s of notes, with Saffron Opera Group. Our performance is this Sunday 15th #wagner #saffronoperagroup #opera

Night train! Heading back to London after playing Wagner in Edinburgh. Got a seat rather than a cabin. Thought it would be an adventure.

Getting into the seasonal spirit by going up to Ally Pally for A Christmas Carol. Sending love and good wishes to my tiny band of Insta followers especially if your Christmas plans have had to change or if this is going to be a difficult time of year for you. 🎄🌲⛪️🎅🦢🌲

This weekend I’m playing Das Rheingold. I always forget how difficult the viola part is. The Rainbow Bridge is a nightmare for various reasons, not least if we’re playing off the edition where all the divisi is on the same page meaning there are only 4 bars to a page.... and today there are only 5 of us to cover 6 parts.

Tuesday and there are sparkles on the ceiling. Not sure how they got there but I’m not complaining.

Cactus sisters. My sister Liz visited this weekend and we both ended up buying these beautiful prickly pears.
