Some circles on my most recent installation. The environmental relationship between the work's two materials, water hyacinth and cattail explores relationships within ecological cycles. The invasive species is pushing out the native, but traditional weaving systems are adapting, removing the weeds from waterways. I've enjoyed playing with the interaction between these ideas and the stunning architecture at @taragaonnext ! On view for the month of April. @nepalknotcraftcentre

We had an amazing opening last night! Conflagurations came about when a bunch of incredible artists I went to grad school with realized we were all thinking about fire independently, and we decided to do it together. Thanks so much to @taliaevegreene and @stockton.mark for organizing this! The show will be up till May 23rd so don't miss it!! @emsoruiz @evan.hall @neranderthal

Philadelphia has always been a center for art and civic dialogue. This year, we’re honoring that legacy with Radical Americana. ️✨ Organized by @theclaystudiophl , this city-wide series features 25 exhibitions from arts and cultural institutions responding to the Semiquincentennial. I’m proud to show work at one of the host sites! Forty-five artists have researched artwork from 1776, 1876, 1976, and today to create works that celebrate our city’s diversity and prompt vital conversations about our nation’s future. Visit the @museumforartinwood to see how the past is shaping our present. #RadicalAmericana #TheClayStudiophl #Philly250 #VisitPhilly Copyright 2026 Museum for Art in Wood, photo John Carlano

Conflagrations, a group show featuring recent works by Viola Bordon, Evan Curtis Charles Hall, Narendra Haynes, and Emmanuela Soria Ruiz, investigates fire as force, event, and aftermath. Moving between active burn and residual trace, the artists ask how we might respond to fire’s capacity to clear, consume, reveal, and reorder. As fire increasingly shapes our ecological context, these works reflect on how fire constructs and destroys in the same gesture, reshaping ecologies, infrastructures, and collective memory. What burns. What survives. What returns. @PearlsteinGallery - 3401 Filbert St. Philadelphia, PA Opening reception April 8, 2026 from 5:00-7:30pm. @violabordon @evan.hall @neranderthal @emsoruiz

JOIN US for the opening reception for our Spring Exhibitions: Collective Landscapes and Conflagrations. Collective Landscapes: Photographs by @ludakiewicz and Textiles by @marisvanvlack brings together two artists who mine collective histories to investigate the impacts of time, disinvestment, and conflict on architectural landscapes. Ludak’s photography takes inspiration from his grandmother’s life amidst the rugged towns of Western Pennsylvania's coal-mining communities, expanding his lens to capture current themes of urban and rural life amongst spaces ridden by structural neglect. In her multifaceted practice, Van Vlack uses textile, sculpture, and collage practices to create tapestries that investigate the impacts of war and weather on landscapes from her family’s history. Her unique layering techniques mirror the cycles of accumulation, entropy, and regeneration on the built environment over time. Questions around American liberty are ones I have been mulling over for a long time, and in the last year, these ideas came to the surface in this quilt. Come by before July to see Muilebrity at @museumforartinwood . I am thrilled to have worked with @navva_m @sorensonkatie and Amrut Mishra on this show. It is part of the larger Radical Americana show at the Clay Studio. Image Copyright 2026 Museum for Art in Wood, photo: John Carlano @theclaystudiophl #radicalamericana

We are pleased to announce our upcoming exhibition Viola Bordon: Muliebrity Opening at the Museum for Art in Wood on the first Friday in March. Since the American Revolution, the Roman goddess Libertas has personified the nation’s ideals, embodying evolving definitions of freedom and belonging. The 1886 dedication of the Statue of Liberty, however, unfolded amid national conflict over the boundaries of liberty, including the end of Reconstruction, debates over immigration, and the rise of women’s suffrage. Drawing on archival research at the American Historical Society, textile artist Viola Bordon examines “Lady Liberty” as a fragmented American icon. Her triptych Muliebrity, composed through appliqué and found textiles, invokes a distinctly feminine power grounded in endurance and embodied knowledge, prompting us to consider how figures of womanhood have been repeatedly mobilized to serve patriarchal institutions. March 6 – July 26, 2026 @violabordon #RadicalAmericana "Muliebrity" is a part of Radical Americana, a series of exhibitions organized by The Clay Studio and a consortium of Philadelphia’s extensive collection of arts and cultural institutions that celebrate how today’s artists are continuing the city’s unique and rich legacy as a center for creativity and civic engagement.

I am excited about my quilts being included in this show that opened at the Eastern Connecticut State University Gallery. Julia Wintner curated an amazing show around the book The Women's House of Detention by Hugh Ryan. It was also fun to show with Dan Clauson's clay works. 🎉
