NO, the Cannonball Record was NOT beaten.
I’ve been flooded with messages asking if the Cannonball record was just beaten. Short answer: NO.
A recent Atlantic-to-Pacific run, along with some inaccurate reporting online, has caused a lot of confusion, so here’s the simple breakdown.
My friends Tommy and Mason recently made an incredible run from Jacksonville, Florida to San Diego in a Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing with a time of 22:38. That’s an amazing accomplishment—averaging 104 mph over 2,365 miles. Huge respect to them.
But that route is the Southern Trail / Old Spanish Trail—the shortest drivable path between the Atlantic and Pacific. It’s its own challenge with its own history. We actually held that record ourselves in 2018 with my Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG at 24:00 until 2025.
The infamous Cannonball Run is a different record entirely: 450 miles longer, from NY to LA.
In the Audi S6, Doug, Dunadell and I completed that run in 25:39, averaging 110 mph over 2,816 miles—and that remains the current Cannonball record.
So to be clear: Tommy and Mason set an impressive “Southern Trail” record. But the Cannonball Run record still stands… 🏁
