Dearest Bailey,
You were not born to me,
But I claim you as mine anyway.
You took away my lazy mornings,
But you loved me on my worst day.
You measure life in tail wags
And I measure mine in yours.
Another year of stolen socks,
And me smelling your paws.
You taught me love needs no words,
Just a face on my knee,
A nose boop at 3am,
That says “I’m here. Breathe with me.”
So today we add one more candle
To the light you already are.
You don’t ask for much, my baby:
A treat. A pup cup. My car.
Happy birthday to the kid
Who never learned to talk,
But said “I love you” every time
our eyes lock.
I don’t know who adopted who,
But I thank the universe every day
For the daughter I didn’t birth
Who always shows me the way.
Love, Mom
A very Happy birthday Aseem… wishing you joy 2X of what you give us… praying for infinite strength and patience to spend a lifetime with the Chhibber and Gill clan… and hoping to create many many more memories on road trips and train journeys together. We love you loads ❤️
