A little bit of Catalan sunshine on it’s way to Chicago via @casa_ravella ☀️
La Casa Llarga Xarel.lo comes from a NW facing vineyard planted in the 80’s in the Muntanyes d’Ordal sub zone. High altitude and limestone soils give this zippy, young Xarel.lo its inviting energy.
Casa Ravella is a family winery in Alt Penedès beside a little village called Ordal, with estate vines in the surrounding valley from 325 to 410 meters above sea level, being among the highest in the area.
Casa Ravella is new to the US market, currently run by the multi-talented María de Camps Chalbaud who traces her families’ roots back to 1567 in the same farmhouse, Cal Ravella.

Rooted in the Pyrenees Mountains, the natural border between Spain and France, it reflects a place where geography, culture, and food & wine traditions intersect.
After years of exploring the Iberian Peninsula and France, I’ve remained in awe of the mountains, rivers, and oceans that shape the world’s most diverse viticultural landscapes.
This is where our story begins.

Today we’re celebrating 10 years since we said ‘I will’ and threw the best dance party ever with our amazing family and friends. These ten years have been filled with the most memorable and meaningful experiences of our lives because each day we choose one another and orient our little ship toward growth and joy. Happy anniversary, @kristinclewis — I’m forever grateful for you… and for @okcupid 😂
A special shout-out to our dear friend @meganstielstra , who officiated our wedding and had so many beautiful things to say. I’ll share a few of her words from that night that feel especially resonant on our 10th anniversary:
“Tonight, Kristin and Steven are starting a new chapter. And as they walk through the days and
the months and the years together, they want to remain inquisitive and adventurous; to never
take for granted the opportunities they’ve been given; to value the love and friendship they get
to share with everyone in their lives, to see the world together: and of course drink good wine
and laugh a lot!
You fell in love by chance, but tonight you’re making a choice. You are choosing one another.
You’ve chosen to be with someone who reminds you of all the goodness in the world, who
understands and appreciates you, and who inspires you to be the best version of yourself.
You’re about to make promises to each other that you intend to keep: to take care of each
other, to stand up for one another, and take on this wild and wonderful world as a team. There’s
a simple premise to each of these vows; it goes like this: I will be there. Every experience I have, I want you to be a part of it.”

Exploring Catalunya from our base in Sitges in October was outstanding. We caught the tail end of the warm weather and it was nice to melt into village life with the locals who really come out this time of year. Staying in Sitges made it easy to explore the surrounding wine regions of Penedés, Montsant, Priorat, Tarragona, Conca de Barberà & Alella. We were able to meet some of the most innovative producers in the region and get a feel for the incredible strides being made across the board by small growers motivated by preserving their local viticultural traditions. Needless to say, the restaurants in the region were outstanding, I’ll be posting more about this, and we had a lovely meal @alfrescorestaurant in Sitges, which I recommend very highly for their beautiful ingredients and excellent wine program.

The wine programs in this city are among the best in the world, matched only by the outstanding respect for excellent ingredients and pro hospitality. Left with fond memories and already can’t wait to return.
