Year FIVE! What an incredible honor to be able to do this once again. I’ve been working on this release for a longgg time and I’m SO excited for you all to see the video and the events we have coming! This year will be special.
On one hand, it’s special for all the same reasons as before. More sponsors, more money pledged, more awareness, more support. I’ll also be setting out to do the hardest fitness challenge I’ve ever come up with.
On the other hand, this year is special for all the wrong reasons. We’ve recently seen the federal administration cut over $1 billion of USDA funding. This funding supplies crucial support that brings food to schools, food banks, and pantries.
Bellingham Food Bank alone is staring at an estimated loss of $600-$800k in federal support. Combine that with higher food prices and economic uncertainty and it’s easy to see why food insecurity is at an all time high.
My fundraising goal this year is $300,000. Realistically I would love for that number to be closer to $600,000. I’d love for local families that are already struggling to make ends meet not to show up to empty shelves. Hopefully we can get close ❤️
