Chilli and Slip House are excited to present a joint group presentation as part of the 8th edition of Felix Art Fair, taking place at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles. The galleries will be presenting works by Lucia Farrow, Naresh Kumar, Erin Wolf Mommsen, Emily Clair Murdock and Keisuke Tada. Please find us in room 121 - we look forward to seeing you from the 25th February. Keisuke Tada’s paintings explore the intersection of painting, sculpture and artifact. Tada builds landscapes that draw on the compositional strategies of 19th-century landscape painting - in particular the Barbizon and Hudson River Schools. While they combined plein air studies into cohesive, idealized views, Tada combines his scenes virtually to reflect the post-digital era. These digital studies of imagined environments lay the ground work for Tada’s meticulous paintings. Using oil, industrial pigments and specialized binders, Tada builds up dense layers of paint. By manipulating drying times and material ratios, he produces controlled cracking and separation. These painterly gestures give the aura of erosion and aging, helping the works to take on a somewhat archaeological, fragmented feel. My solo exhibition at Sliphouse closed today🌵 Since this was my first time exhibiting in New York, I was initially worried about the turnout. However, thanks to Ingrid's incredible support, we had a great crowd. I was truly moved by how proactive and interested the visitors were. Thank you so much to everyone who came to see my work.
