Suomalaisessa kansanperinteessä käärmeellä on monia merkityksiä ja rooleja.
Sitä on pidetty sekä pyhänä että pelottavana, elämään ja kuolemaan liittyvänä olentona. Käärmeitä pidettiin kodin suojelijoina, niitä kohdeltiin kunnioittavasti ja joskus ruokittiin, jotta ne pysyisivät lähellä ja turvaisivat talon. Käärmeiden uskottiin omaavan parantavia voimia – ne kykenivät parantamaan sairauksia ja vammoja. Niiden iho tai kuviot toimivat parantamisen symboleina. Käärmeet edustivat uudistumista ja elämän kiertokulkua, sillä ne luovat nahkansa ja uudistuvat. Ne yhdistettiin myös maahan ja maaperään, ja niillä uskottiin olevan rooli hyvän sadon varmistamisessa.

In Finnish folklore, the snake holds various meanings and roles. It has been considered both sacred and frightening, linked to life and death. Snakes were seen as protectors of homes, treated with respect, and sometimes fed to keep them nearby and safeguard the household. Snakes were believed to have healing powers, capable of curing illnesses and injuries. Their skin or patterns were used as healing symbols. Snakes represented renewal and the cycle of life, shedding their skin and renewing themselves. They were also associated with the earth and soil, playing a role in ensuring good harvests.

Tribal drive meets screeching acid distortion in progressive depths.
From the southern forests, Finnish producer Vildling from Martyrs Records brings forward-driving mythic fury aboard, while out of the inland waters of Jyväskylä, DJ and organizer Looney Boon joins the raid. Holding course is, Kaista’s own crew Haloyata, Danacat and Carpool On Acid keeping the ship steady(ish) till sunrise. All hands on deck till morning light.

As I sit here pondering the year behind me, turning 37, I can feel how much has shifted. I bought a 100‑year‑old house even deeper out in the countryside, a place with a stream, a well, fruit trees, berry bushes, a sauna, a studio, a cellar, and a barn. A real slice of paradise. I’ve poured myself into renovating it, shaping it into a beautiful and functional home for my family.
I’ve been creating a lot of new music, sharpening my craft, pushing myself to grow as a producer, drawing inspiration from old stories and from future utopias and dystopias.
At the same time, I’m trying to be a great father to my daughters, showing up with presence, patience, and strength.
I’ve tried to tune out the noise of the world, to protect my mind from the constant chaos. The media bombards you with negativity more than ever, and it does nothing good for anyone’s mental wellbeing.
As a man, I want to carry the skills and resilience needed to lead, to protect, to step forward when the moment calls for it. But I also know I need to keep my own cup full, to stay connected to the things that bring me joy, creativity, and meaning.
Looking forward to entering the year of the horse 🙌🏻
Closed out 2025 with a beautiful, powerful sound-and-light Dark folk ritual in Loviisa.
Huge respect to the church for being so open-minded and welcoming us into their stunning neo‑Gothic space.
I handled the music composition, @neguzt crafted the sound immersion, @annelillrajala brought the lyrics and vocals, and @hakalight shaped the light.
We’ll probably release the track at some point—until then, wishing you a strong beginning to 2026.

Valo/projisointiteos Loviisan uudenvuoden juhlaan. Kiitos luottamuksesta 🙏 Tästähän tuli varsin hieno kokonaisuus!
Teos sisälsi Loviisan kirkon valaisun sisältä ja ulkoa, sekä 10 minuutin live-esityksen joka pyöräytettiin viisi kertaa illan aikana. Kappale ja projisointiteos olivat vain tätä tapahtumaa varten suunniteltu ja sävelletty.
