Two oat lattes and a babyccino please! ☕️🌈👶🏼✨ Steve and I are so incredibly grateful to be welcoming a bambino into the world early next year. It does however feel bitter sweet posting this though because I know some people will see our announcement and feel as though another weight has been added to their already heavy heart. If that is you, your feelings are so valid. I know the deep sadness I would feel overwhelmed with when I saw another pregnancy announcement, especially after our losses, it felt like my whole heart had been shattered into a million pieces. To those beautiful humans out there who have a very heavy heart around fertility, I see you. I want to acknowledge you for being the strong human you are. Through the darkest of days I hope you know that there is a rainbow at the end of the tunnel and that you are never alone. Your rainbow will come too. 🤍🌈✨

[TW PREGNANCY LOSS] On the Tuesday evening we celebrated what we thought was going to be the last Valentine’s Day we’d have as a family of two. We were elated to be carrying what we thought was our rainbow baby. The next morning at our 12 week OB appointment we were told your heart had stopped beating. Sadly this isn’t our first loss, but I’m hoping with every ounce of my being it was our last. Late last year I joined a crappy club I never wanted to be part of. A club that 1 in 4 women ultimately end up joining but seldom ever talk about being in. It’s been heartbreaking to learn that so many friends and even family members are part of this club, but I only got the privilege of learning that by joining it myself. It’s as though it’s a secret club, and the first rule is don’t talk about the pregnancy loss club unless you’re welcoming a new member. When it comes to social media everyone demands real, raw, and honest - yet when it came to sharing this with you, I felt like it was too much. Too real. Too raw. Too honest. I felt like I was invading your space and taking up too much emotional energy. It’s why I didn’t post about this earlier. It’s why this text has sat in the notes section of my phone for a month. Wanting to share, because my heart was so full but not wanting to overwhelm others with news that is often challenging to respond to. During our first pregnancy loss, I went to a speaking event the day after finding out. It felt easier to pretend to be calm and carry on as though everything was fine. I wandered around my office wondering if the people passing me knew that while I smiled and wished them a good morning, in that same moment I was experiencing the most heartbreaking and traumatic event I’d ever been through in my life. Today @kiarasammar and I spent the day inside Budget Lock-Up at Parliament House reading through the fine print so naturally… we have thoughts.
