Victim/Suspect is an @anthemawards winner!
We’re honored that Victim/Suspect has been recognized with an Anthem Award, which celebrates purpose-driven work creating social impact around the world.
The film exposed a devastating reality: survivors who report sexual assault are too often arrested instead of believed. Through an impact campaign led by the Red Owl team, the film team and the Center for Investigative Reporting, we worked to change that narrative—creating a Victim’s Rights Tip Sheet, training police and prosecutors in trauma-informed practices, urging news outlets to remove harmful coverage, and helping inspire a model law in Illinois to protect survivors.
Victim/Suspect and its companion resources continue to empower coalitions, advocates, and members of the criminal legal system to ensure victims are treated as victims—not suspects.
