my debut spoken word album is out on streaming everywhere. finally, the stories i’ve carried within me - and that i’ve heard reflected back from you, the community - have taken shape. so many of you know what it’s like being mixed or an immigrant, or feeling like you’re not enough of one culture, but also not enough of another, or that you’re too much of a third thing, or just feeling DIFFERENT.

i’m so proud! this year i worked on on a series of national tv commercials for @chime , this being one of them. besides getting to write the script, the other highlight was that my ♥️ @mikexmerchant was cast in one of them (being a longtime chime member and an actor - the perfect fit 🎯). keep an eye out for it on tv and streaming—and don’t miss my mini cameo in the photo frame next to mike 🤗

i’ve always been here for “manifesting” your vision - imagining what you want for your life and then working hard to make it happen. but it never hit me until a few years ago that it goes for physical, tangible things as well - a podcaster (can’t remember in what context i saw this) pointed to the microphone and said “someone manifested this microphone. this was an idea in somebody’s mind, and now it’s real”. maybe it sounds silly or dumb but it kind of blew my mind and since then i have gone from manifesting being this general “vibe” you want to make happen in your life to also tangible, physical things - and its both, not one or the other (why limiting yourself? the universe is not on a budget duh).
and that’s how i approached my vinyl as well. spoken word is ephemeral and hard to capture - the expression disappears the moment it’s taking form. i wanted to immortalize these words - these stories about being mixed, about being an immigrant, about identity - in a format that spoke to me. in this case it was both streaming and vinyls. and once i visualized it, i knew i could create it. does it mean it was easy? hellll no. but possible.

💛 TRINITY is coming
this is Mixed Girl Magic - track 5 of my spoken word EP that comes out today in a week (!). the album is a story about identity, being mixed, and being an immigrant. belonging and being an outsider are two sides of the same coin that have been a part of my identity since being born, and after years of letting these thoughts swirl around in my head and my heart, they’ve finally crystallized into Trinity, the album I’m so excited to share with you on my birthday, 4/29.
