I’m at @kimptoncharlottesquare this afternoon doing some live painting as part of my artist in residency. Pop in if your local to Edinburgh and grab a wee glass of something from the bar 😉🌸
We were delighted to welcome hotel guests and friends of our artist into the garden for Kimpton Social Hour to celebrate the opening of @vickpaul ’s artist in residency, Where Energy Meets.
Running until 27th May, the exhibition is a bold celebration of colour, connection and emotion - exploring the energy we carry, share and leave behind through layered textures, movement and abstract form.
Whether you’re stopping by for a quiet admire, accidentally falling in love with a piece over a glass of wine, or mentally rearranging your living room to make one fit - consider this your sign to pop in.
Mini snapshot of my artist in residency launch @kimptoncharlottesquare last night.
Huge thanks to the team at Kimpton Charlotte Square Hotel and everyone who turned up to support me. Still pinching myself.
Introducing our new Artist in Residence: @vickyjpaul
One of our very own, Edinburgh-based Vicky Paul presents ‘Where Energy Resets’, bringing together four collections — Celestial, Cosmos, Thin Places, and Cherry Blossoms — each exploring rhythm, connection, and change.
From the expansive, high-frequency movement of Celestial and Cosmos, to the quieter, more reflective tones of Thin Places, and lush, confectionary impasto Cherry Blossoms, this is work that moves between worlds — light and shadow, chaos and calm, the seen and the felt.
Working intuitively, Vicky paints through instinct rather than structure — layering colour, texture, and gesture into works that feel alive. Less about what you see, more about what shifts when you’re standing in front of them.
Now on view in The Garden at Kimpton Charlotte Square. Best enjoyed with a glass of rosé in hand 😉
I know I said I was taking a break from the ‘gram, however this news is too good not to share.
I’m thrilled to announce I’ve been selected as @kimptoncharlottesquare Artist in Residence.
I’m presenting a selection of work from four collections - Celestial, Cosmos, Thin Places and Cherry Blossoms - each exploring a different rhythm of energy, connection and change.
You can view the work throughout the main reception areas until end May.
I’ll be sharing more soon but wanted to let you know what’s been going on in my world over that last couple of months.

Cherry blossoms represent beauty, magic, nostalgia and transformation, and when you need your spirits lifted, their delicate petals dazzle you.
Known as ‘Sakura’ in Japan, the tradition of travelling to view the blooms stretches back over 1,000 years. People practise the ritual of ‘Hanami’ a ceremony that is commonly known as “flower viewing” and is simply the ancient practice of gazing upon the flowers.
When the world, and our lives, are a little crazy, I invite you to find a moment of peace and calm gazing at my cherry blossoms during a new solo exhibition from 22-26 April at @cockburn_collective in Leith - right next to the Foot of the Walk tram stop.
Open from 10:00 - 16:00 each day, I will be exhibiting and selling a selection of original paintings, framed prints and works on paper.

I wanted to save a few of my paintings and Soul Energy Portraits here for anyone visiting Insta. It’s a small selection of my work - you can find more on my website .
I am stepping away from socials to focus my time and energy sharing my work directly, as I have found I’m not reaching people in any meaningful way here - despite my best efforts.
It’s a big gamble and has been met with a lot of support (thank you) and also “you’re very brave” and “how are people going to find you” and “it’ll damage your reputation if you are not on socials”.
I’ve had more people join my newsletter in the last 2 days than I have in the last 6 months which is amazing, and shows me that people genuinely want to support and engage with my work.
I’m also going to use this time as an experiment to see if we really can build an art business without Instagram - I genuinely believe we can. You can follow my journey through my blogs, podcast and newsletter via - link in bio.
Much love xx
I have decided to take some time away from using Instagram for my art business.
This has not been an easy decision however engagement, profile views and connection are minimal - and I find it hard to know what to share to capture attention in 3 seconds.
For the meantime, I’m going to put my focus and time on LinkedIn and my website - I’d love to see you there . Please join my newsletter (in my bio) to keep up to date.
I am still open for brand collaborations, artwork commissions and Soul Energy Portraits. Please email [email protected].
THANK YOU to everyone who has supported me here, I would love to continue to connect with you via .
