My problem with retouching has always been that it needs a base to work from. Additionally, one doesn't just sit down and retouches as a creative outlet so I always looked at other forms of art. That said, drawing has always been something I sucked at, but that said, now with some extra inspiration and the disgusting creeping of AI use in my industry, prompted me to start practicing it. Here, I'm just practicing some lips. Thought I would share...
It's not Unreal yet, and it's another car but it is coming along nicely. I have worked on adding some primitive shadow mapping, some simplistic distance fog for aesthetics, coat maps so parts can be coated or uncoated, and some other things. Everything is still very raw but it'll get there.
More work on my real-time pbr renderer. This time, I added deferred rendering which is where you render geometry and lighting separately. As always, there are pros and cons so might not stick with this but it was a good exercise. Look at the position pass blooming like crazy. Ha!
Recently, I have been writing a real-time PBR renderer just for myself. It's a project that at this point didn't even take as long as it could have because of my experience with writing game engines and low level graphics. It was written in C++ without any external libraries and to keep things chill DirectX 11 because I didn't want to write War and Peace writing Vulkan. Anyway, I will keep tinkering with this...
My barebones vectorscope app running over the new Superman trailer in real-time. The app is being developed with my game engine/application framework and features a whole new core logic for maximum performance.

I recently found this photo I took of my wife some time ago and I thought I'd apply my new film emulation and post it. It's such a lovely portrait 💕

Took this of my wife at a recent trip to Aspen. (And applied my newest film emulation techniques, of course)

When we were working on a campaign at @gildstudios to bring awareness to domestic violence we needed a monster hand that we had to create in CGI. For that the base sculpting was done by the fantastic Ana Carolina Pereira, while additional passes and texturing was done by me. It was additionally challenging as the hand was only a small part of the final image so it really needed to stand out.

Another image I retouched for a @lucidmotors ad. The challenge here was that the provided image was a full image of the car but the ad required an extreme crop. Hence, I needed to use some complex image processing techniques to enlarge the image.

Recently I retouched some images for a @lucidmotors ad. Cars are always interesting to work on.
