🌞 MEET OUR CURATOR 🌞 Up Close #3: the sublime In this edition we speak with Rawad Baaklini, curator of our current exhibition at TENT. The exhibition explores sunsets, romance, and the unspoken, schemergebieden and transitions. Between the conversation with Rawad Baaklini and host Pelumi Adejumo, you’ll hear fragments of a short story between two lovers and a poster across the street written by Ciska Meister. Want to hear the full interview? Click the link in the bio! Rawad Baaklini is a Lebanese curator and educator based in Rotterdam. Over the years, he has collaborated with curatorial teams at institutions such as the MIT Museum in Boston, the Noorderlicht Photo Festival in Groningen, and the Science Gallery Network. In 2022 he was co-winner of the Young Curator Award from Garage Rotterdam. His practice explores the relationship between art and design theory and the tangible realities of everyday life, with a focus on film, writing, and exhibition-making. Up Close is a series of multisensory audio experiences at TENT Rotterdam. It serves as an archive, offers an alternative way to experience the exhibition, and creates a moment for stillness and reflection. TOMORROW at Queer Cinema ❤️🧡💛🤍💜 We’re teaming up with @lesbival for a screening of Lesvia — but that’s not all… Come early and settle into the foyer at @lantarenvenster , because starting from 18:00 you can listen to a Dutch-language audio piece by artist and filmmaker Ciska Mei, one of Lesbival’s founding members. 👇 Nederlands below — Hoorspel: Ansichtkaart van wat ik verzuimde te vertellen. Te beluisteren vanaf 18:00 in onze foyer (duur: 10 minuten) In dit korte audioverhaal schijnt de zon, breekt een bord, een glas en een hart, en begint het verhaal daar waar een telefoontje eindigt. We kruipen in de rol van een ex-geliefde, die nooit te horen kreeg wat de verteller daadwerkelijk meemaakte op een reis naar Spanje aan de kust. Over de maker ✨ Ciska (die/diens, zij/haar) is kunstenaar en filmmaker, met een focus op documentair en essayistisch videowerk. In diens werk vertrekt die vaak vanuit paradoxen; een dubbelzinnige relatie tot een vraag of thema, en heeft die de neiging om de conventies, verwachtingen en implicaties van het genre waarin die werkt uit te dagen. @verysatisfactory 🎧 Kom luisteren, voor de film begint.
