The next update to Gosh will finish out the design space with light weights.
Gosh is getting OLD. The first drawings were started in 2017? I feel lucky that I get to explore an idea at such a leisurely pace. I’m finding lately that I want the curves to be loose, as loose as possible while still keeping smooth transitions. I don’t want the letters to feel stuffed or rushed.
But psychologically I’m feeling more rushed than ever! After my daughter was born, my tolerance for sitting at a screen plummeted. Now when I dip into old projects, I have moments, milliseconds, to enact a few changes before my attention slips.
I’m grateful to have my time competed for so that I’m forced to ask what’s important. And I tell you what, posting here is not high on my list!!!!!
Gosh gets to V0.3!
This update adds 12 new styles to the bold end of the spectrum, more diacritics, and a bunch of other drawing updates.
I hope ya’ll are well! What books are you reading?? Are you still making bread? Did you stop meditating after your first child was born too?
VC Gosh is a couple weeks old now. WYBDWI? I’m swamped on a project, but I’m hoping to find some time in May to get working on new styles. I’m thinking I’ll keep it bold and go wide or narrow for V0.2. Does that sound right?
Introducing VC Gosh: a square sans for people who hate squares. To test my capacity for suffering, VC Gosh was drawn without a single straight line. I didn't have time to do a design process article for this one, but the one liner is: I started VC Gosh in 2017 and hardly a month has gone by that I didn't adjust the tension in the rounds. Hope you enjoy it!
Introducing V0.5! With this update, Henrietta takes one small step into the unknown! With Italics!
I'll probably do a write-up on this one. At some point. In the future. Italics are weird.
I can't say it enough: thanks to all y'all who license my fonts and leave comments and suggestions on @futurefonts . Very Cool is on its fifth year and I'm still very much in awe about the whole thing. ❤️
Attn Nudgeheads:
Nudge V6 is up!!! With TWO italics (Italic and Very Italic)!!
From the earliest iterations of Nudge, I wanted a supporting super-slanted italic. Something tall, but tilted. You know, like the text on the back of a Penske truck. But honestly italics are very hard for me. So, after loads of redraws, tests from kind friends, 12 months and five versions later, I’m happy to finally get it out there. I think it’s good. I think you’ll like it.
Thanks to @futurefonts for continuing to be a meaningful way for me to sell licenses, and all of you for the support. ❤️❤️
