When you have a vision… And that vision is a 250 piece puzzle… And all the pieces are granny squares! 😁 So happy I managed to finish this before our short trip to Italy!! 🇮🇹 It was a stretch and at some point I thought I wasn’t going to make it, but it was so worth the effort! ☺️ I loved combining crochet and knitting for a summer top again, with crochet taking the lead this time. I was going to do it all in one color, to use up leftovers from my #thegirldress, which I’m wearing at the end of the video. But I got a little bored crocheting lots of mini squares in the same color, so I dug into my stash again and went for an all-over checkered look! This project was super portable, so I took it literally everywhere. The hardest part was picking the buttons, but I’m so happy with them! What did you think? 😘 #vertknit #crocheting #knitting #damastop

… living rent free in my head ❤️‍🔥 About a month ago, the idea for this design stroke me like lightning. I became obsessed with it, and started making plans to have it finished in a month, so I could wear it to the wedding of a dear friend ✨ I instinctively knew which yarn I wanted to use, I had a swatch made from stash in a minute, and I started stalking online 😁 There are so many gorgeous shades of it available, but I immediately fell in love with this one! I started working on it as soon as the yarn arrived, and made a lot of progress only in a couple of days. I was so excited, and on a very tight schedule! Unfortunately after restarting work several times and finally realizing that not only my gauge, but also my own measurements were changing, I decided I needed to take a short break from this project. What I had in mind was a huge undertaking, like nothing I’ve ever done before. I finally have the feeling that the time is right to start working on it again, and I really can’t wait to get my hands on it! I have a few days off work coming up and hope to be able to show you a sneak peek soon 👀 This beautiful yarn is #linomuka by @wollenberlin , it’s made from Lithuanian linen and it was kindly sent to me for this design [AD] It came lovingly packed with the cutest postcards with care and use tips, as well as a pattern suggestion. Thank you so much Ruta for entrusting me with these beauties! ❤️ #vertknit #wollenberlin #summerknits

The SALT hoodie 2.0 is live on Ravelry! ✨ It’s been a challenging journey, and I feel so lucky to have had some incredible people by my side during this last sprint. A huge shout out to my brilliant testers, whose feedback was invaluable to perfect this forty-page, thirty-two size pattern 💕 You can find their projects through the highlight on my profile, or pattern Ravelry page, and I’ll be sharing more of their pictures soon. The revised version has my pretty new layout and current writing style, as well as 16 (!) brand new sizes - the small frame sizes, based on my standard woman sizing chart - as well as plenty of added tips and mods to ensure everyone can find their own perfect fit. The original sizes have become the large frame sizes, as they were originally created based on standard men sizes. I’ve made a few tweaks to the fit and construction to make the knitting experience even smoother, and tried to keep the pattern gender-neutral, as that was one of the intentions behind this design when I first created it. I very much recommend giving the Mondim and Soft Fine combo a try, I guarantee you won’t be disappointed! It will give you the perfect, coziest, cuddliest hoodie... a lovely halo hiding superb structure and durability 👌 Hope you enjoy knitting this one! Sharing is super appreciated 💕 Have a lovely day, Inês

A little detour from knitting, to make some room for breakfast 🥞 It’s launch day ✨ The #salthoodie 2.0 will be live shortly and I’m so, so excited to share it with you! This update has been quite the journey, juggling 32 (!) sizes and all the new mods… but it’s been really worth it, I’m so happy with how it turned out! Per popular request in response to my stories, I dusted off my food blogger pants and took some notes over the course of a couple of weeks of testing and fine tuning - which meant yes, I was having pancakes for breakfast almost every single day 😂 - to find out a way to have my favorite breakfast without the bulk of carbs that usually come with it. I was on a journey for the perfect low carb pancakes. The A-ha moment came when one first bite threw me back to my childhood, to my grandma’s powder blue kitchen, to family gatherings around the table in her dark green carpeted dining room. There was a hint of this yolk-heavy yet light and airy cake the Portuguese call pão-de-ló. These won’t taste like or have the consistency of your usual wheat pancakes! After all, we’re intentionally leaving out leavening agents, gluten, and added sugar. They’re more like Japanese dorayaki, maybe? In any case, they’ve won a place in my breakfast rotation, especially heavily topped with high-fibre foods ✨ As with my patterns, let me know if you have any issues or questions regarding the instructions 😘 Have a nice day!

MOCHI slipover love 💕 If I found myself reaching for my #matchajumper almost every day during the cold months, the #mochislipover is the mild weather equivalent! I want to wear mine every day, and I’m starting to think I should have called it a top, because that’s how I wear it the most 😁. It goes with everything: wide leg jeans, dressy trousers, silk shirts, long and short skirts… so easy to throw on, and oh-so cozy! I think there’s a time and place for every fiber, and cashmere is perfect for garments that you wear directly on the skin for a whole day, especially when you can’t trust the weather ☺️ Yarn: @cardiffcashmere Classic Colorways: Cacao, Yatay and Scarlatta Pattern: #mochislipover by @vertknit #vertknit

I’m not exaggerating when I say you can find me wearing this every day for the foreseeable future… it’s been my go to since the temperatures started to go up, and it’s a perfect day to night outfit too ✨ What can I say… The MOCHI slipover in @cardiffcashmere Classic is at the same time chic, casual and extremely cozy. It’s absolutely perfect for this time of the year when you can’t figure out what to wear, because it’s at the same time hot and cold: warm enough for those morning hours you wish you had packed another layer, and breathable so you won’t get sweaty around lunch time. It knits up in no time and I’ve added lots of mods and tips for the perfectly tailored fit, with a cute tiny bit of a drop shoulder and a super versatile cut 🤎 I always feel super dressed up when I put mine on, while at the same time it feels like a warm hug, it’s an immediate mood lifter! ☺️ #mochislipover #vertknit

IT IS TIME ✨ { test call closed } …for a crochet meets knitting pattern test! The DAMAS top is a visually striking mixed media summer top combining knitting, crochet and sewing. The granny square, irresistibly chic? I shrunk the motif until it resembled filigree jewelry, replicated it in high contrast colors, set it on a diagonal lattice, framed it in delicate knit edges and, of course, added a touch of whimsy with some dainty buttons. ✨ This top has a boxy, cropped cut. It was designed to have approximately zero ease around the bust. The recommended yarn, pure silk by @knittingforolive , creates a lightweight top with a lovely drape, qualities one doesn’t always associate with crochet fabric. Go bold with multiple colors, or tone it down with a unicolor look - have fun playing checkers! “Damas” is Portuguese for “checkers” (the board game). It also means “ladies”, “dames”, and “queens” in a game of cards ☺️ THANK YOU so much for the warm welcome you’ve given this design! Your messages and comments have been filling my heart since I started sharing it, and I’m so happy you liked it so much 🥰 I’m now looking for advanced beginner and intermediate knitters and crocheters who have dabbled into the other craft before to test the pattern! (For sizes 6-8, the crochet squares have an extra row, as seen on pic 3. This makes it possible to address different proportions while keeping the same filigree look, and it also spares you a lot of extra seaming work) The application form can be found in the link in my bio 🤍 thank you for your interest!

It’s almost time to wave winter goodbye ✨ While I’ve been totally immersed in exciting springtime design ideas for a while, I still enjoy the cold against my face as I leave the house, and I was thrilled we still got to witness some generous snowfall last week 🤍 I know at least one friend who would call me crazy (she can’t wait for the summer!), but with or without my hand knits… I actually like the cold! 😁 Are you looking forward to some spring-summer projects, or are you a year-round sweater knitter? 😉 Wearing my #citrinehat in @woollentwine bfl/romney dk in the colorway “golden hour” And my new scrap yarn scarf - still need to narrow down that list of names, there’s too many good ones! #vertknit #woollentwinefibrestudio #stashbuster #scrapyarn

making magic ✨ one stitch at a time Knitting is such a part of my everyday life, it’s easy to forget there was a time when I didn’t knit. It’s easy to get lost in the making and forget the magic ✨ To forget to pause and appreciate the transformative power of knitting. How a pile of scraps can be molded into something new and beautiful. This project was a great reminder that knitting is magic 💛 … stay tuned for more! 👀 #vertknit #cardijumper #junotop #salthoodie

If life gives you lemons… knitters edition 🍋 I had a whole video thing planned for the great reveal of this project, but then life gave me heavy snowfall and I couldn’t resist a throwing on a jet black outfit, so here we are ☺️ sometimes it‘s the unexpected things that bring the most joy, and I can’t imagine a better way to showcase all these colors. This might be the coolest thing I’ve ever knit, and it’s made entirely with leftovers! 😱 If you‘re like me and have been knitting for a while, you’ve probably gathered enough fluffy lace yarn and fingering weight yarn to fill an oversized tote bag. Leftovers from sweaters and socks, odd balls you got just to try out the yarn, hand downs from friends and family… You can turn it all into a stunning, luxurious scarf, equal parts eye-catcher, toasty and oh-so-soft 🤍 And if you use leftovers from your projects, this scarf will instantly match all your favorite knitwear! I’ll be writing a pattern with a color matching guide to help you make the most of your stash, and I‘m already dreaming of a yarn-swapping KAL 😁 What should we name this scarf? 😉 Wish you a lovely Friday! #vertknit

A lot happens between the design idea and the knitting pattern ✨ The journey is filled with risk taking, excitement, some angst, the acceptance of failure, frustration, starting over, and it’s seldom a straight line. I see many knitters eager to cast on, or even impulsively casting on a new project. For me, as a knitwear designer, there’s no easy cast-on no more 😅 By the time I can finally do so, I’ve spent several hours sketching, pondering the exact construction and design elements I want to use, how things will change across the size chart and which mods might come to play, looking for the perfect yarn for that construction and for the drape I’m looking for, grading and regrading my own size, sometimes all sizes, swatching not only for gauge, but often also increase and decrease techniques and transitions… it usually takes more time than the actual knitting 🤣 This design lead me on a slightly different journey. I did all that, and then spent several weeks crocheting 300 (!) mini granny squares, which I laid out on our dining table… and while I was oddly confident it would work, I couldn’t know for sure until I seamed all pieces and tried on the finished product 🙈 Grading this one has come with very particular challenges, but I’m super happy to let you know that it’s done, and I’m currently wrapping up writing the pattern 😁 (thank you @gioweavingtales for the helpful chats!) I can’t wait to send out a test call, so keep your eyes peeled 👀 #vertknit #damastop #knittingforolivepuresilk #thegirldress #crochet
