There are images that remain unpublished for long… not because they are wrong, no, pretty opposite — they are so good I am afraid of eliminating the vibe, the dreamy feel, the subtle outofthisworldness of the picture. I am afraid to do the color thing wrong. My feelings are those of the jeweller who was given the huge raw hellishly expensive diamond and asked to have it faceted. Sometimes you know exactly what (and how) there is to be done, but when you start doing it, it starts coming out “almost exactly so”, with this “almost” ruining all the idea. It hurts. It makes you feel wrong and weak. It makes you rage. It makes you have another take on the image. Again and again. And one day you just do it from scratch, do a tiny tweak in color and see that it’s ready. The very way you wanted it to be.
And I do realize that most of those spending 0,5 of the second to look at my picture in their instagram would know nothing about the struggle behind it. Most of them would say “it was absolutely fine in the very beginning” or “I see no difference” if asked. Maybe my going lengths with my perfectionism is pointless… but it’s the way I am.
And this is why some images, the most cherished ones, remain unpublished for long.
