The Effectors III: Final Battle brings the trilogy to its dramatic end.
In the climactic showdown, a superhero's lasers realistically “shoot down” swarms of Lucie micro drones mid-air in a tightly choreographed sequence that plays out above and around the audience. For the @robbiewilliams Angels mashup with Ayed, 104 drones formed giant wings 🪽 above the stage, transformed into ribbons of light 💫 over the audience, then closed in a final vortex 🌪️ around the artists.

In The Effectors II: Crash & Burn, The Effectors universe expanded, and so did the effects.
The Lucie micro drone swarm returns... but this time they have a "queen bee". Crash gets in a larger-than-life “mother drone”, inspired by the Lucie, and flies out over the audience surrounded by his minions. From the @royalcaribbeanblog : "Why does nobody ever talk about The Effectors? Synchronized drones? Lasers? This show was GREAT!"

The Effectors launched as an original superhero franchise created by @royalcaribbean in 2019.
It tells the story of four superheroes with the ability to control show effects like lasers, lights, video, and audio. The superheroes unite their powers to fight the villain Crash who, with his Lucie micro drone minions, tries to take over the world 😈
For Verity, this was the first production where we began flying drones regularly over a live audience—on the high seas.
Operating inside a theatre on a moving ship introduced a new layer of complexity. Unlike land-based venues, positioning constantly shifts with waves and motion, requiring our algorithms to dynamically adjust while maintaining precision, timing, and audience safety.
Since 2019, the franchise has expanded to include The Effectors II and III, all including Lucie micro drones... we'll tell you more in posts to come!

As we head into 2026, our Lucie micro drones are celebrating the only way they know how: turning the entire room into part of the show, and becoming part of the story—not just the spectacle.
Here’s to bolder creative risks, tighter integrations, and performances that reach far beyond the edge of the stage.

Lucie in the Sky first took flight in 2023.
Since then, it has toured internationally, evolving with every stage, city, and audience.
Opening night in Hong Kong at @ekcc.hk on December 19th marks the next chapter in that journey. Created in close collaboration with the Australasian Dance Collective, the work imagines drones not as effects, but as performers, exploring the delicate power dynamic between humans and machines.
