Created for First Peoples in Victoria and presented by the Commission in partnership with @vicaboriginallegalservice , Know Your Rights looks at systemic inequality — from the tragic case of Veronica Nelson to the subtle, everyday moments of bias and exclusion — and asks what it will take to build a fairer future for all. Hosted by journalist Jedda Costa, a proud Wemba Wemba, Yorta Yorta and Mutti Mutti woman from Naarm, this 5-part series unpacks real stories from community and explores how they connect to our shared history and ongoing fight for justice. You can also hear the late Aunty Carol Fraser track 'Koori Woman' through out the series. Aunty Carole was a deadly Indigenous Naarm-based jazz/blues vocalist, a pioneer and trailblazer within the local scene. Know Your Rights episodes were recorded on Wurundjeri Country, Naarm in 2025 and are available on all streaming platforms through the link in our bio.

Parents and family members want what’s best for the young people in their lives. But they don’t always know what to say or do if they know, or think, that their child might be lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and/or asexual (LGBTQA). 🌈 The Commission is proud of our booklet ‘Talking with your child about sexuality and gender identity.’ Developed in collaboration with @raisingchildren.net.au this guide supports parents and caregivers to have good conversations with teens and young adults about topics like gender and sexuality, and how they can support them to be happy, healthy, and safe. Happy Vaisakhi. 🌼 Vaisakhi is a cherished spring festival that began as a harvest celebration in Punjab, India, and marks the birth of the Khalsa within the Sikh community. It is a time to honour gratitude, renewal and the strength of community. At the Commission, we proudly recognise and celebrate the cultural and religious events that enrich and shape Victoria. Wishing you a warm and joyful Vaisakhi, filled with happiness, good food, and the company of those you hold dear.

Yom HaShoah – Holocaust Remembrance Day. April 13 is a day to pause and honour the memory of the six million Jewish lives taken in the Holocaust. At the Commission we remember these people and their stories, their humanity, and the resilience of survivors who carried their memories forward. May this day strengthen our shared commitment to stand against discrimination and injustice wherever it appears.

International Asexuality Day took place on April 6 promoting visibility and understanding of the asexual community. Asexuality is an umbrella term for a community with a wide variety of ways to positively express their asexuality. The Commission celebrates this day and recognises its importance in affirming the existence, spectrum and validity of asexual experiences, while continuing to include the community in conversations around identity and sexuality.
