Heute habe ich das PaleoLab von @velozee auf dem @comicpark_ mit unterstützt und viele Besucher über die Grabungsstätte Bromacker (@bromacker_chroniken ) aufgeklärt. Ebenfalls konnte man bei den Kollegen der @unijena ein PaläoQuiz absolvieren und sein Wissen ein wenig testen und erweitern. Die vielen Gespräche mit den neugierigen Besuchern aus ganz Deutschland waren sehr unterhaltsam. Ich hoffe der ComicPark behält das Konzept bei 😃. Wir sehen uns dieses Jahr am Bromacker vom 29. Besucht uns im Paleo-Lab! Zum diesjährigen @comicpark_ habe ich mich mit den Forschern der Universität Jena und der @bromacker_chroniken zusammen getan, um ein kleines Lab zu konzipieren, indem ihr die Schnittstelle zwischen Forschung und Kunst selbst erleben könnt. Mit verschiedenen Exponaten und Stationen könnt ihr eure eigene Urweltreise starten und mehr über die coolen kleinen Kerle lernen, die Thüringen einst bevölkerten. Sammelt alle Stempel im Forscherpass und erhaltet das Comic Park-Abzeichen für Saurier-Forscher. Natürlich gibt es auch den normalen Velozee-Künstlerstand aber ich werde NOCHMEHR über Saurier reden als sonst. Gerne könnt ihr schon Fragen an die Paläontologen in die Kommentare schreiben. Ahoi Here's my little wrapped for 2025. It was a challenging year: I spent a lot of time in hospitals with my dad and I didn't get to finish projects. But I think I made the best out of it. And I am very grateful that Institutions trust me with fun projects despite die AI bubble taking more and more space in every part of our lives. With not beeing able to do my comissions, art markets became a big part of my income but also ate a lot of my free time. I deeply enjoy conventions and the connections I made there by talking about wierd critters. But I feel like I will need much more free time in 2026. This was also a big year for my hyperindepence because people that I thought were good friends failed me big time. Luckily I recieved a lot of support by my local / online friend circles. Especially now that my father has passed away, I am very thankful for all the shoulders to lean on. I have Ideas for 2 years but I still only have the energy for 3 hours but things get better and I think I am braced for 2026.

Happy #fossilfriday I asked myself for a really long time if I really need to make a design about AI. There's already so much good content about it and if you are not living in a cursed techbro echo chamber, you already know about the impact that AI has on resources, academia and the cognitive damage it's users may suffer. Still I see professional Institutions using AI generated Images on social media and even in publications. Maybe it's just 5 Boomers that need their internet access limited but maybe it's a testing of how much stolen art/skills they can get away with. That's why resistance against Gen AI trends is so important. People need to relearn authenticy and media literacy. And most of all: they need to remember what skills are and how they are acquired. Mastering new skills and collaborating with skilled others is what made humans thrive in the first place. We need to be very critical of any technology that wants to take this potential from us. #noai #paleoart #digitalillustration #scicom

Happy #fossilfriday Heres a little WIP update on my permian petrified forest. There is still a lot of work to do but now that market summer is over, I can work on it consistently. Here are some permiam critters as well as plants. Both still in review. Also a screenshot from the groundlevel of the painting. This artwork is meant for educational purposes in a museum. This very genre is challenging because there ist a list of fossil finds/research that needs to be communicated through the final artwork. Last week I attended the annual meeting of the European Association of Vertebrate Paleontologists in Kraków. I gave a workshop on science communication on event settings (thanks @nou.ko for the foto) , submitted art to the paleoart exhibiton and was quite delighted to see my paleoart beeing used in science talks. When I wasn't watching the pigeon army at the towns square I learned a lot of new things about research publishing, trace fossils and bat(shit) crazy research methods. Thanks to smalltalk and the charity auction I even scored new art for my wall. Thank you @eavpalaeo for having me. Happy #fossilfriday heres the first glimpse of paleoart I did for the project Paleogon by @gaia_games . Since the first screening of Jurassic Park, scientists get constantly asked if they could bring the dinosaurs back. But the real question is: could we keep them alive? Like every other lifeform, Dinosaurs depended on other species to sustain themselves. They were part of complex ecosystems that were sensitive to changes. The new game Paleogon will challenge its players to recreate such ecosystems and to sustain as many species as possible in them. More than 700 people frequented the sacral halls of eoscene treasures. I am very happy to be part of this event and also seeing my art brought to good use. I made a postcard for the special occasion. Happy #fossilfriday Today I wanna showcase a rather spontaneous sci-com project I did with @gwyndor_ at the anime convention in Jena this february. Jena is a city with fossils from the triassic Muschelkalk and we decided to feature the animal whose teeth and bones can be found ever so often in the local sediments: Nothosaurus. Luckily we already accumulated quite some material to work with: Nothosaurus Illustrations from previous projects, local fossils and my precious Lariosaurus (a close relative of our Nothosaurus) model printed by @gigabones3d All that was left was to write texts, craft some artwork fitting for anime conventions and put everything together in a little exhibiton and also im a little broshure. The concept worked out great and we had a blast presenting local fossils and paleoart to the visitors. Darius did the Textwork and Illustrated a colouring sheet for the broshure. Also he did the paintjob on the model. Thanks to @jenaco_con for organizing the event 💜.
