Introducing VEG ER for Pets! 🏥🐾
We’ve always been VEG. We’re still VEG. We’ll forever be VEG. And now, our name makes it even clearer. It may look different—maybe even unexpected—but in every way that matters, it’s the same. Even better!
❤️Same trusted care. Same incredible team. Same lifesaving mission. Just a name that says it all: VEG ER for Pets.

Emergency veterinary medicine isn’t just physically demanding - it’s emotional, too. ❤️
At VEG, we support our teams so they can show up for you and your pet when it matters most. We sat down with Medical Director Dr. Sarah Hoggan (20+ years in ER) to talk about the realities of the job, mental health in vet med, and what it really takes to care for pets - and the people who love them. Red-carpet discharge for Mr. Bells 💫
Mr. Bells came to us in critical condition - unresponsive, cold, and fighting for his life.
Thanks to our teams immediate triage, fast stabilization, and two days of around-the-clock medical care, Mr. Bells made an incredible recovery and walked right out the door with his family by his side. 🫶🔔

Note for pet: Nope, the baby bird is not a toy! ❌
It’s fledgling season, which means you may spot baby birds on the ground as they learn to fly. Seeing the li’l tweeter can spark your instinct to protect - and your pet’s instinct to investigate.
Rule # 1: Keep your pet away from baby birds 🐈🐕
Dogs and cats may grab at the bird out of curiosity. This can lead to:
🐦 Pecks or scratches, especially around the eyes or nose
🐦 Small wounds
🐦 Exposure to bacteria or parasites carried by wild birds
🐦 Digestive issues if feathers or bones are swallowed
Watch for signs like:
🐦 Eye injuries or squinting
🐦 Bleeding or puncture wounds
🐦 Swelling around the face
🐦 Vomiting
🐦 Signs of pain
🐦 Lethargy or unusual behavior
Remember, even minor wounds can become infected quickly. If something feels off - or you’re unsure - call or visit VEG ER for Pets, we’re open 24/7 for any emergency.
Never touch the baby bird; call wildlife control if you think the bird’s injured.
Did you know that you can call VEG ER for Pets 24/7 to speak directly with an emergency doctor?
No guessing. No 2:00 AM symptom searching.
Just real answers, right away. That's the VEG experience. ❤️
As a rescue dog mom 🐶❤️, there’s nothing more anxiety-inducing than not knowing where to go if something suddenly goes wrong with your best friend. That’s why I feel so much better knowing @veg ER for Pets is now open in South Burlington, Vermont - 24/7, 365 days a year 🕐✨#vegpartner
One thing I really love? You can call anytime and actually talk to a doctor for free ☎️👩⚕️ if you’re unsure what’s going on with your pet - even exotics, truly any animal that can fit through the door (sheep, goats, reptiles, birds, you name it)! That alone would’ve saved me so much stress and worry in the past.
And if you do need to go in, a doctor greets you and sees your pet immediately, before paperwork, before payment, because they know every second counts ⏱️🐾They even see you drive in so no moment goes to waste.
But the part that really got me… you never have to leave your pet. You can stay with them through every procedure, surgery, even overnight 🛏️💛 That level of transparency and care is something I’ve never experienced before and is so refreshing as a pet parent.
It’s one of those places you hope you never have to use… but feel so much better knowing it’s there and available 🙌🐕 Vermont friends - take note, this is a big deal for our pets and our community!

Open a VEG ER for Pets in Canada - check! ✔️ 🇨🇦
Throwing it back to earlier this year when we opened our first international animal hospital in Etobicoke and brought our 24/7 emergency care to more people and their pets.
Where should we open next?! Drop your city below. 👀
In veterinary medicine, the wins are big and the losses can be heavy. In either case, emotions run high. Protecting your mental health isn’t about shutting feelings down - it’s about giving yourself the space to process them before deciding your next move.
At the beginning of 2025, we launched our Wellness ERG (Employee Resource Group) to create exactly that kind of space. What started as an idea has grown into a community of 150+ members committed to supporting one another, building healthy habits, and making mental well-being part of how we work - not an afterthought.
Because sustainable care for others starts with caring for ourselves. ❤️
Red-carpet discharge for Loki 💫
Sweet Loki spent four days with us recovering after eating raisins. To make his release day even more special, it also happened to be his owner’s birthday - so we sent them home with a little surprise goodie bag to celebrate. 🥳
Mom stayed by Loki’s side throughout his stay, because at VEG, we care for the whole family.
