This morning, I was looking back through old videos and photos to make room for tk and i’s wedding videos. I kept seeing a shell of a girl, a crab carrying around too many heavy things on her back to try to make it with everything to the next place of safety. The weight I was carrying around with me both metaphorically and literally. The lid on my trauma box was sealed shut. She was numb, dissociative, she felt small and unworthy of self love.
Erin sent me this photo last week and I straight up said out loud “who is that?” Genuinely caught off guard. She is healing, she is safe, she has purpose, she loves herself now even through the times when her nervous system tries to play tricks on her and convince her she is worthless. Those were the words of someone else. Not her. Not me. And now she is walking around with less weight on her shoulders and her mind. She’s turned into somewhat of a bird. A weightless bird in flight. Ready to see the world, to feel the wind and the sun and the rain.
And yeah I’m a mush, but I wouldn’t be me without it
