Hymba Yumba Independent School’s outdoor learning space is designed to foster social interaction, cultural connection, and creative learning. The transformation of a former carpark to a softened, passive recreational landscape introduces gathering areas, adaptable nooks, and a prominent sandstone amphitheater that connects outdoor learning with the surrounding environment. Through thoughtful design elements that reflect themes of unity and connection, this space becomes a vibrant social and recreational hub, where students can share knowledge and culture.

At Vee, we’re always excited to welcome students into our office for work experience - it’s a great way to share what we are passionate about and spark excitement for a career in Landscape Architecture. Recently, two year 12 students spent a week with us, taking on the challenge of reimagining an underutilised local open space - their fun, creative ideas brought fresh energy to every step - from site analysis to sketching a master plan.

Miles has been named a finalist for the Queensland Tourism Industry Council 2025 Tourism Town Awards, celebrating Queensland’s regional tourism destinations that are rich in culture, heritage, and attractions. In 2022, Vee worked closely with the local community to create a vibrant new streetscape experience for the Miles CBD. Showcasing the ‘heritage heart of the Western Downs’, the design vision adapts to an evolving main street, with an increase in social and economic pull that celebrates the local stories and charm of this town. @westerndownsrc

At Vee, playscape design offers exciting opportunities to create meaningful learning environments for children. Sunkids Childcare, Benowa, is an example of designing a physical environment as the ‘third teacher’ - a space that fosters inspiration and creative learning. Inspired by nature, the design encourages sensory engagement and unstructured play, key drivers of cognitive development.
