fun fact! these flatface G7.1 dual bearing wheels were made not only to be skate accurate and avoid slips, but it had a more curious function back in the ‘09 era 🤔
before, fingerboard truck axles were on the long side (lots of wobble space, like some china trucks now) — and more interestingly its hangers did not fit inside the back of wheels
if you can imagine, they were molded square-ish and didnt taper at the ends. directly hits the wheel material and eats away at it slowly 💀 crazy, i know! spacers were often used to protect the material
the dual bearing/backless wheels then served a solid purpose, to prevent this from happening! If you look closely theyre flat at the back, and a metal bearing meets the hanger
so yeah, not only are they more realistic, but for fingerboarders growing up back then — they were heaven sent!
now they’re alive again and have trucks made specifically for them. the great thing is, you can basically use them forever. until the bearing wheel material gets pulverised and gives up haha
