Last weekend marked the close of “A Home / A Dwelling”, a group exhibition by Anna Du Toit, Velda Phua, and Xin Lee shaped by shared reflections on returning home, childhood memories, and noticing how much familiar places can change over time.
The exhibition explored the tension between the idea of home and the act of dwelling, asking what it means to find belonging in a city where the ground is always shifting. Through artworks, writings, and shared dialogue, the artists reflected on these shifting landscapes and offered emotional landmarks for places that no longer exist in our physical surroundings.
Thank you to everyone who came by to experience the show. We look forward to seeing where the artists’ individual practices and collaborations take them next.

[ hearth ] “A Home / A Dwelling” transforms the gallery into a space that reflects on memory, absence and the shifting idea of home.
This group exhibition, presented by Anna Du Toit, Velda Phua, and Xin Lee, presents a composite of various works and concepts that come together and explore the notion of home. Going against the grain of a usual gallery setting, the mix of installation, found objects, sculptures, and drawings occupy the room with a sense of intentionality and lightheartedness.
Meant to be experienced in a nonlinear manner, the exhibition has no fixed sequence. Each corner bears the weight of a past lingering in the form of a memory, a feeling, a question, or a place while also offering the potential for new meanings and visions to form.
Without a fixed path, the exhibition unfolds through the visitor’s movement. Each corner carries echoes of memory, feeling, questions or places, while also allowing new meanings to take shape.
Running till 8 March 2026, come take a pause at “A Home / A Dwelling” and ponder the dissipating line between then and now.

[ hearth ] What makes a house a home?
Meet Anna Du Toit, Velda Phua, and Xin Lee, the 3 multi-faceted artists behind “A Home / A Dwelling”. In this reel, they reflect on the shared experience of growing up in a constantly evolving city like Singapore and having to mourn something that no longer has a physical marker.
The exhibition showcases Singapore as a city of ghosts, where spectres of the past continue to affect the present and the living. In these moments where boundaries between feelings and reality blur, feelings often arise most acutely not in the presence of something but in the absence. Through a host of different concepts, the artists hope to evoke a sense of sentimentality for the emotions stirred and left with nowhere to go in their array of works.
With a spirit that is both thoughtful and playful, “A Home / A Dwelling” invites visitors to confront these spectres face-to-face and have a shared conversation about loss, curiosity and joyous re-imagination.

A Home / A Dwelling is a group exhibition bringing together the works of Anna Du Toit, Velda Phua and Xin Lee.
The exhibition explores Singapore as a city shaped by absences, where traces of the past continue to haunt the present. Through disappearing landscapes, domestic spaces, and quiet emotional inheritances, the works reflect on what lingers when what is near and dear vanishes. Across a city-graveyard without tombstones, spectres surface into conversation through moments of mourning, curiosity, and re-imagination.
