This post comes late because I have been in a state of recovery from this behemoth project. Congratulations to @jacklittman , @gregorylittman , and to the entire team behind 'JINX'. Costumes were nearly impossible with one arm. I got a lot of help on this one. I'm proud of all the work I did, on the script, on the screen, and as production designer. This is one for the books. That's a wrap on 'JINX'.

That's a wrap on 'The Object'. 🎬 Thanks @jkenower for having me along on your vision. Doing hair, makeup, and wardrobe in various locations - including the desert and the sea - was an absolute blast. (I'm sorry I don't have anyone else's Instagram handles to tag 😭 except for partner in crime @seekelleyrun , whose props were out of this world / @samlulloff , a most excellent sound guy / @olsoncity the hardest working DP I've ever seen. Edit to add our awesome producer @michellesherree_ as well! But it was such a pleasure working with the entire crew 🌌✨️🖤)

I got swept up in December & January, and never got to talk about the books I read in 2023. I've always loved reading, but in recent years, it's been harder for some reason. In 2022, I didn't read a single book. So although this collection is much smaller than I would like to boast, it's a huge step toward how I would like to live my life. Here are my top recommendations from my book list: - 'The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle' by Haruki Murakami was a perfect book. Equal parts real (too real) and surreal (utterly surreal). Beautiful and grotesque. Mundane, humorous, tragic, and with such depth. - 'Rage Becomes Her' by Soraya Chemaly should be required reading. It is well researched and laid out clearly and explicitly. For people of all genders, you should really read this. 'No One is Talking About This' by Patricia Lockwood is short, funny, biting, poetic, and perfectly cogent for this time. What books were your favorite books you read last year? What should I read this year?

We're off! Yesterday evening the writers got their randomly assigned props, and at 6:35 we took our first pen stroke together. We have just a few hours left until we have to hand our plays off to the directors, who then have 24 hours to direct. 🐍

Before the pandemic, the 50 Hour Drive-by at @zombiejoes was something I looked forward to each year. This is my first time back since then, and it happens to coincide with my first time as ZJU's Managing Director. There will be 4 short plays, written in 24 hours, directed in 24 hours (with 2 hours for tech = 50 hours, then open!). I will be writing a piece (perhaps I will also direct it - or maybe @irresponsibletimetraveler @janawimer or @akelamunsey ) I will be directing a piece (who knows if I'll get my own, or maybe a piece written by @corduroygraham @brittany_deweese or @janawimer ) It's a kick-off show for the 2024 season. Come if you can, to support the theater and see an ephemeral piece of theatrical experimentation. 🤘
