A very gray and humid day in New Jersey, today. Hurricane Isaias hit my small town pretty hard, brought down many old trees, limbs and branches. Home and cars were damaged and much of my town lost electricity for days. Grateful to have power and wifi back after six long days. It really doesn’t take much to be reminded that nothing lasts in this life from one day to the next.

As so many of our students start heading out to college, here is a look back at some of my favorite past seniors. Our high school graduates wear all white. The tradition began during the War and since nobody could find fabric to make gowns, they began using the white sheets and made white gowns out of the bed sheets. To this day, we continue that tradition and our graduates attend the ceremony wearing white gowns and suits.

She was born a short while ago, graduated high school the other day and I watched her pick her third year university classes today. Time is racing and there is no slowing it down. All we can do is grab as many precious moments as we can. This one owns my heart!

The first time I met this lovely girl, she was in first grade and enrolled in my photography class. Shy and quiet and ever so polite with a great eye for photography even at that age. Congratulations to our outstanding class of 2020!! You finally got the graduation ceremony that we had all been anxiously waiting for. A month late, in the middle of July, in a middle of the football field, wearing masks and sitting 10’ apart from each other, you walked proudly and picked up your diplomas from the table and let us take your class photos by a drone from the sky and through it all, you persevered. You didn’t give up. You did what you were asked with grace and compassion. We see you, we respect you and we honor the resilient young men and women you have become. You are exceptional!
