Finished this gate up back in November but never got around to taking a good picture. I got a shot of the top before it went out on a pallet to get galvanized. I’ll make another post with better photos once it’s been painted up.
Principalities and Powers
2025 Capstone
This project is filled with symbolism drawing from contemporary political critique, theological reflection, and stylized imagery of biblical prophecy. Think the song “War pigs” by Black Sabbath.
I had a lot to say and this piece is my way of getting it out.
It is just over 6ft tall and is sitting on a 4 ft base.
This project was very difficult for me to create as it is the largest in terms of size, number of pieces, concepts, and variety of skills. However, the most difficult part was not having anyone I was making this project for. It wasn’t for a professor in a class, a client in the real world, or for a family or friend. It was simply the following through of an idea, and for the sake of creation. This was a first for me and pulled on muscles in my brain that I haven’t pulled on before. Principalities and Powers was my final project as a student at the American College of the Building Arts. I wouldn’t trade my time at this school for anything in the world. Thank you to everyone who supported me along the way!

Go time this week!! Warren and I have been forging these spindles and, I’ve been having a blast. Working at the right temperature is everything. I am still learning how to be more effective and efficient but repetition is a gift.
@ironstudio
Ive been having fun making bottle openers as Christmas gifts and this one made me happy enough to share with all of you! I might keep this one for myself (;
These past couple weeks I have been walking “The Camino Portugués” from Porto, Portugal to Santiago de Compostela, Spain. I arrived in Santiago today to meet these handsome gates. This work is incredibly inspiring and I feel blessed to be able to see this up close. Please enjoy these images of this masterpiece. I will continue to post other images of work I see while abroad on my story.
