Worthy of a repeat - Thank you to the thoughtful person who sent Grouse Mtn these words capturing what we do at VASS / Vancouver Adaptive Snow Sports so beautifully 💚
“I witnessed something deeply inspiring on the slopes: a group of skiers assisting individuals in wheelchairs to ski. Each person in a wheelchair was accompanied by three others, carefully guiding, supporting, and celebrating each moment together. The scene radiated joy, connection, and determination. It was remarkable not just because of the evident teamwork and skill involved, but also because it beautifully demonstrated human resilience and the power of community”
The #vassmagic is real ✨
Thank you Grouse Mountain Resort for being our partner for 51 yrs! 💗
So grateful to @vassmagic for this beautiful opportunity to share the spirit of skiing through volunteering ❄️⛷️
Teaching Bryant was such a rewarding and unforgettable experience. Moments like these remind me why I love giving back 💙✨
Had the pleasure of participating in the @grousemountain torchlight parade this year representing @vassmagic

Last year, my personal trainer, @matthewdelbelbelluz , suggested I give sit-skiing a try. So I signed up for lessons in October and eagerly awaited this new adventure. As time passed, eagerness turned into dread, as I realized this meant I would be hurtling down a mountain. 😬
When lesson time finally came around in mid February, I must’ve looked awfully frightened when I showed up, as all the volunteers kept reassuring me that everything would be fine.
Three lessons later, I found sit-skiing to be both challenging and fun, and looking forward to learning more next season. 😁
- My amazing @vassmagic volunteer instructors (Mario, Ralf and Marcus). They spent a lot of time trying to keep me calm during lesson one 😛. They were amazingly patient, kind and knowledgeable.
- How the adventure began, clearly stiff and scared even on the bunny hill.
- First time on a chairlift in winter.
- Started to get the hang of it during lesson two and we graduated from the bunny hill to Rookies at @mtseymour
- The guy who got me into this insanity.
- Look, I’m actually smiling doing this! (Julian, the fourth member of the team)
- Speeding downhill and actually having fun.
This is what sit skiing down the Peak face during sunset looks like! 🌄 @grousemountain
