Residentes 2026.1 | @vaskos_ VASKOS é um duo multidisciplinar formado pelos artistas Vassilis Noulas e Kostas Tzimoulis, em atuação desde 2014 em Atenas (Grécia). Suas obras abordam de forma lúdica as identidades artísticas, sexuais e nacionais por viés da performance, da fotografia, do desenho, da cerâmica, da editoração e das práticas curatoriais. No cerne está o festejo das colaborações artísticas, desafiando as noções tradicionais de identidade e autoria. VASKOS recorre à associação livre de palavras, textos, objetos e materiais, denotando um homoerotismo aberto com elementos excêntricos em diálogo com eco-queerness. VASKOS está em atividade há bastante tempo nas comunidades queer e artísticas de Atenas, promovendo espaços auto-organizados como o EIGHT / ΤΟ ΟΧΤΩ (@eight_athens ) e participando em eventos coletivos. São também membros-chave do grupo de teatro experimental Nova Melancholia (@novamelancholia ). Vaskos Performance, 21.2.2026 Gorgeous like Ancient Columns A hundred years ago, Nelly’s (1899-1998) began systematically photographing the Acropolis of Athens and its antiquities. The famous Generation of the ‘30s placed at the core of the country’s intellectual life, the search for “Greekness” as the identity of the Modern Greeks, that would enhance their self-confidence by drawing on their relationship with the Great Past. On Nelly’s inspiration, the photographs of Greek antiquities were used, above all, to demonstrate the close affinity between ancient statuary and the Modern Greek physiognomy. Countering the demand for the Greek ideals, harmony, racial purity, physical vigor, classical grace and athletic strength, VASKOS tenderly and playfully perform their own vulnerable, gendered and mature bodies. @vaskos_ Part of DUOS AU_PASSAGE, a group show curated by @daniissler in collaboration with @borisatruxtallau and @kerenidis.pepe.collection The show ends tomorrow.

⚡️Flash back to February 2024⚡️ at the launch event of the Sheltered Gardens publication in partnership with the National Museum of Contemporary Art ΕΜΣΤ. Sheltered Gardens bilingual publication is the culmination of the homonymous hybrid, visual arts research and exhibition inaugurated on September 22, 2022, at the J. & A. Diomedes Botanic Garden, in Athens. Featuring more than 35 international artists, writers and performers, the project, curated by Kika Kyriakakou, was inspired by H.D.’s poem Sheltered Garden (1916) and it was unfolded through a contemporary art group exhibition at the @diomedes_botanical_garden , complimented by a series of performances, an online, digital exhibition and a bilingual, limited-edition publication. Sheltered Gardens edition is published by Futura Publications and includes original texts, essays and poems by @kikakyriakakou , Chris Kraus, Selina Nwulu, Phoebe Giannisi, Fay Zika, I broke the vase, @vaskos_ (Vassilis Noulas & Kostas Tzimoulis) and Dimitra Ioannou, dedicated to sheltered gardens, ecosystems and the problematic issues that emerge in contemporary women’s gardens as well as rich photographic material from PCAI’s artistic programme in the Diomedes Botanic Garden. VASKOS is a multidisciplinary artistic duo formed in Athens in 2014 by Vassilis Noulas and Kostas Tzimoulis. Their work humorously explores artistic, sexual, and national identities through performance, photography, drawing, ceramics, publishing, and curatorial practice. At the core of their work lies a celebration of artistic collaboration, challenging traditional notions of individual identity and singular authorship. VASKOS has long been active in Athens’ queer and artistic communities, both as artists and organizers, initiating self-organized spaces such as EIGHT / ΤΟ ΟΧΤΩ – critical institute for arts and politics – and taking part in collective events.
