OMG WAIT do you know the tiktok sound that goes “SHE GONE CALLL ME BABYY BOOO!!!”? Because if you guys know a thing or two about brainrottedness, Angel is just the person to talk to😉! She is quite literally on side quest mode at all times, so whether she’s rage baiting or scubaing, life is NEVER boring with her around. A true foodie at heart, she’s always on the hunt for her next review, especially if it involves dumplings or a good matcha run! Not to mention, she’s basically a pro bowler and if you ever need help carrying anything, just hit her up because she was on her school’s weightlifting team (OKAY MUSCLE MOMMY 💪). And just when you think she can’t top that… don’t even get me started on her hair??!! Best hair in Luna makes PERFECT sense… but then she also won most derpy so uhhh… how does one even acquire both of these traits 😭. Beyond all the chaos, she’s genuinely one of the funniest and most caring people to be around. Angel is also a crafty gal and has a litty energy to her that makes everything she does more special. She’s always laughing, hyping people up, and turning anything into a good time without even trying!

WOAH… STOP EVERYTHING 🚨🎂 IT’S MADELINE’S BIRTHDAY!! She is someone who brings style, creativity, and laughter wherever she goes! The swag definitely runs in the family, considering everyone loves to play pickleball with her dad. Madeline loves talking about monkeys, listening to Keshi, Grent Perez, or BTS (yes, she went to the concert😆), doodling, editing videos, and playing songs by ear with her “relative” pitch on the piano. She can also play the cello, ukulele, and… the recorder!?!?!🤯 She may say “idk” at least five times before making a decision and randomly hit the griddy, but somehow she always finds a way to get things done, even if she’s constantly larping in places outside of the country!🌎✈️Madeline has shown so much love and dedication to VASA. From her amazing work as Media Director to leading our organization as President, and now continuing to guide us as a Senior Advisor, she brings care and positivity into everything she does. Who knew someone who used to collect cardboard in elementary school would become such an important part of VASA🥹.

Every Smiski collection has that one special figure that makes the whole set better, and for VASA, that’s basically Dorothy Ta!💚 She’s one of the most artsy and aesthetic people you’ll ever meet with her thrifted outfits, film camera pictures, and growing blind box collection, while practically running on Spam, rotisserie chicken, and of course, that delicious viet coffee 😛. But once you get past the aesthetic, the Dorothy lore just keeps expanding… She can belt every Wicked song like it’s second nature and as a kid, she was a lethal theater x chess kid combo (WHO KNEW🤯). Outside of that, you can find her doing fun crafts, drawing, coloring, or fully locked in on a game of Egyptian Rat Screw 😭. Her easygoing personality and grounded energy makes her someone who puts people at ease, always bringing a fun and calm luh vibe wherever she goes! And if there’s ever a moment worth capturing, she’s usually already the one pulling out a digital to save it 📸!

Today marks 51 years since April 30, 1975, a day remembered as Black April, or “Ngày Quốc Hận.” This day signifies the fall of Saigon and the end of the Vietnam War, a moment that changed the course of Vietnamese history and impacted millions of lives. As we reflect on this solemn anniversary, we honor and remember the sacrifices of soldiers, civilians, and families whose lives were forever shaped by this day.

Black April is often regarded as one of the darkest chapters in Vietnamese history, marking the day Northern forces captured Saigon, the capital of South Vietnam. The fall of the city led to the loss of countless lives and the displacement of families across the world. Many were forced to leave behind their homes, carrying with them stories of resilience, sacrifice, and survival that continue to live on today.

While April 30th marked the end of the war, it also marked the beginning of new journeys for many within the Vietnamese diaspora. Over five decades later, its impact continues to echo through generations, especially among those who have built their lives in the United States. At VASA, we remain committed to preserving our cultural heritage, honoring the experiences of those who came before us, and educating future generations about the history that shapes our community today.

Skit Director: In this position, we are looking for someone with a creative mind who can take charge of making skits and smaller performances for VASA! You will lead the VASA Skit Committee, manage props needed for videos and performances, and produce creative skit content for VASA. You will also play a key role in bringing VASA’s biggest shows to life by creating skits for Tết Trung Thu (TTT) and Tết. As director, you will be in charge of shaping each performance, creating scripts and coordinating practices with your committee to bring ideas to life! 🎬

As the school year comes to an end, we find ourselves looking back on all the moments that made this year so special. From the excitement at every GBM and performance to the hell week potlucks, we came together to create something we’ll never forget. What made it meaningful wasn’t just the events themselves, but everything and everyone that made them possible. To our Cultural, Skit, Deco, Media, and Philanthropy committees, we thank everyone who showed up, supported, and gave it their all.
