What a weekend! ๐๐ผ๐ชฉ ๐บ๐ผ๐บ๐ผ
It was a wild western adventure strewn with mirror balls and glitter, to celebrate Dyl and Monty on their epic day.
Apparently I missed the International day of women and girls in science (yesterday). But here's a few piccies of things I've been up to over the past year.
Day 8 in New Zealand: Nature just keeps bloody showing off. Kicked things off at the 3 Sisters and Elephant Rock โ unreal coastal vibes and rock formations. Looked like real life Mario Kart ๐คฃ
Then it was off to Waitomo for black water rafting and glow worm caves ๐ชฑโจ

Day 7 in New Zealand: 16km hike through Mount Egmont National Park because apparently, this is what you do on holidays. ๐ฅพ๐ Legs are cooked but the views & waterfalls were worth it.๐ฆ

Day 3 in New Zealand: What a ride! ๐๐จ Started with a scenic drive from Rotorua to Taupo, where we took the plunge (literally) at Taupo Bungy โ 47 meters of pure adrenaline! @ajhackettbungynz
Stretched the legs with a walk along the stunning Waikato River and took in the epic views of the waterfall ๐ before hitting the road again to Napier. The landscapes here? Chefโs kiss.๐

Some snippets of last week with a few hundred enthusiastic soil people, for the Moana Oceania Soil Judging Competition. So great to see so many students and early career professionals getting involved in this event.
The conference that followed, was gifted the name 'Te Kiri o Papatลซฤnuku' ~ the skin of mother earth.
Learning that soil structure (and identification), in the young soils of the North Island NZ, is very different, compared to identifying more strongly developed structure in the long weathered soils of Aus.
Thanks to Josh from @lincolnuninz , for demonstrating a technique to help in the identification of structure, in less developed soil profiles. A steep learning curve for our team from @southerncrossuni@nzsoilscience@soilscienceaust
