We’re excited to share the full edit of Unlimit Me, which tells a deeper story and shows the talent and passions of the kids and youth who participated. @dylanmaranda did such an exceptional job at creating a safe and joyful environment for this production. The kids had fun expressing themselves and their families have so much pride in who their children are becoming. At the heart of this video is the reminder that every child has dreams, but not every child has equal access to the support that helps them grow. It’s also a joyful celebration of what it looks like when these barriers are removed. Share this video to help us support more BC families. ❤ #UnlimitKids

May is Speech and Hearing Month! 🗣️👂 The BC Early Hearing Program helps children receive hearing support and speech-language services until kids are five years old. But when children enter school, that support often becomes harder to access, leaving many families paying thousands of dollars for new hearing aids or speech therapy. Thanks to our generous donors, we’re stepping in to fill those gaps. Last year, our speech and hearing grants reached children in 40 different towns and cities across BC. ☑️57% of these grants supported kids between the ages of 7 and 11 ☑️Over one-third of grants helped children navigating multiple complex diagnoses Helping kids access the right support is just one part inclusion. Kids with speech or hearing differences have varied communication styles and perspectives, and every one deserves to be valued and included. If your child needs support, please reach out. And if you’re able, consider donating today to help us create more inclusive, accessible communities. Apply for a grant or donate through the links in our bio! #SpeechAndHearingMonth #KidsCantWait #AccessibilityMatters #BCKids

When Echo and Chance moved their family from Winnipeg to Surrey, they had to rebuild their support system while caring for three young children. Their eldest daughter, Hanaa has developmental delays and severe vision loss, and she uses a wheelchair for mobility. Transferring her and her chair was physically demanding, but Echo and Chance couldn't afford a lighter wheelchair alternative. Variety donors funded a new, lightweight stroller that made an immediate difference in Hanaa’s day-to-day life. “It’s allowed Hanaa to join more family outings and feel more comfortable and included,” Echo says. Support like this gives families one less obstacle to manage during already stressful life seasons. If you’re able, please consider giving today. Your gift removes limits for BC families like Echo and Chance’s. Link in bio! #BChealth #disabilitysupport #disabilityparenting #VarietyBC #EvenStronger

Maybe you’re still waiting for your child’s diagnosis, or you’re just beginning to learn what a new diagnosis means. We know those first months are filled with questions, difficult decisions, and concern for what lies ahead. You're not alone. Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of witnessing the extraordinary milestones that follow when families receive the support they need. We’re proud to be part of so many journeys and grateful to everyone who helps ensure children across British Columbia have the opportunities to flourish. ❤️ #BChealth #disabilityawareness #disabilityparenting #VarietyBC #EvenStronger

“Watching Kason grow into his unique personality is really, really special,” Kailey says. “And having that solid connection with your kid, being open and honest, that is very rewarding.” So grateful to Kailey and the many moms who’ve shared their stories with us. And thank you to our community for all the ways you help support Variety moms, creating a little more stability and a little less stress during already full seasons of life. Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Variety BC! ❤️ #MothersDay #EvenStronger

It really does take a community to support kids with mental health challenges 💚 High private costs and limited public services can make it difficult for families to access the care their children need, especially without extra support. In 2025, our donors helped 127 children and youth in 39 communities across British Columbia access mental wellness therapies. That’s over $195,000 invested in counselling and other supports thanks to our generous community. If your child needs support, please reach out. And if you’re able to help, consider donating to improve access to mental health care for more children across BC. Together, we can build stronger systems of care where kids and their families can heal, grow, and feel supported. This spring, we’re excited to share stories of courage and resilience from Variety parents. It’s such an honour to be a part of these stories and help strong parents feel even stronger. 💪🌸 Meet Kailey, a mom from Kelowna. When her son Kason was just four years old, he was diagnosed with juvenile arthritis and uveitis (inflammation in his eyes). His arthritis was severe, affecting about 19 joints. The medications and treatments he needed were painful and frightening for both mom and son. “It was a very, very rough start,” Kailey recalls. Kason needs frequent physio sessions to treat his arthritis—something Kailey couldn’t cover with just insurance. “Variety gives us peace of mind because we don’t have to live with the stress of not being able to afford care,” she says. Check out our blog to learn more about Kailey and Kason’s journey and join us in supporting families like theirs. Link in bio! #EvenStronger

“Duncan is a happy, curious and bright little person with an incredible memory. He needs extra support to tap into his unique needs and reach his full potential. Variety’s grants have been a tremendous support to his needs, and with these resources, he’s continuing to develop into his best self.” Funding for a psycho-ed assessment and physio are helping Duncan learn at school and develop new skills, like riding a bike on his own. We’re cheering Duncan on as he grows and thrives! And thank you to his mom Shannon for sharing how he's doing. #DisabilitySupport #KidsHealth #InclusiveCommunities #unlimitkids

We are sad to share the passing of a beloved member of our Variety family, Barbara Stewart. And while our hearts are heavy, Barbara’s legacy is woven into the fabric of who we are and will continue to inspire us in the years ahead. Barbara first made an impact with Variety as a telethon volunteer in 1972. Within 15 years, she was the first female Chief Barker (now titled President) of the Board of Directors. This is testament to Barbara’s leadership, passion and drive. She was a tireless champion of Variety children and the families who love them. From leading fundraising programs, like the Gold Hearts Program, organizing events for Variety families, to her involvement in Variety International, Barbara’s impact spanned the globe. We are so grateful to have had her in our lives, and her memory will continue to inspire our work in the days ahead. Our deep sympathies are with Bob and the Stewart family. Barbara’s funeral will be held on May 4 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross, 1450 Delta Avenue followed by a Celebration of Life from 1-3 p.m. at the Burnaby Mountain Golf Course, 7600 Halifax Street. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested making a donation in tribute to Barbara: justgiving.com/campaign/barbarastewart
