@brigade.anti.banditisme are keeping a close watch on a window in the suspect’s house that faces the street. A cover position is set up here behind a car. This is done to ensure that any armed suspect who appears at the window can be neutralized, and to provide cover in case of a potential escape or threat. Sometimes there are multiple cover positions on a building due to its angles and windows.

I was still jet-lagged, but I went straight back out with the guys from the unit. They had to respond to a call that night involving an armed suspect. I took some photos, filmed some footage, and captured a few shots in the dark. The shield bearer, long guns, handguns, the arrest. I still have a lot to share. As they say, it’s the finger that pulls the trigger. Part 1/2

A mix of missions in Brussels, with a focus on breachers, and a suspect sleeping in a cell. I’m continuing with the @brigade.anti.banditisme ; I’ll go back to the field with from mid-May cauz I’m heading to Portugal now. I’m not done with my last night yet. I’ll probably be working on the book soon.

Many kilometers were traveled in the Norwegian Arctic, France, and Belgium to bring back the 222 images for the book YDERST. Kristina wrote the stories, recounting these journeys in a direct and poetic way. A professional duo that works very well. Book signing this Friday @peinturefraichebookshop with @atelier_exb in Brussels . See you there ! 🍾
Iceland, if I go out into the storm, it’s to see Esja again—the first trigger. I almost named my daughter after you. In the end, she’ll be named after the bird that heralds spring. Somewhere in the middle of the storm, I see the flashes I’ll see on the day I die. In the distant future, I know I’ll see Esja as a final signal sent by my brain to my soul. Seven minutes, they say. Now, weathering the storm, feeling alive back in the North.
While their identities must remain secret, I attempt a few portraits in the middle of the night. Before a raid. What does one of these men have under a balaclava or a thick piece of plexiglass? A nickname? Equipment, a number on a helmet?
When you’re anonymous, you always try to make yourself known.
A pose, a way of handling your gear. It’s fascinating to get to know these guys, and then to realize they’re trained to handle the most extreme situations a city can encounter.
At a time when tensions are rising everywhere in the world, I continue to question this ultra-security of the city, this crisis management of a capital riddled with crime.

Last night I got exclusive footage of the Breaching unit raiding a suspect's home, accused of arms trafficking and murder and other shady business. The gear they carry is insane. I snapped some pics and filmed some intense moments. Watching one guy handle a jack was impressive, especially navigating tight stairwells without a sound. Here's a sneak peek at the beginning and the end with me and the team and their black Volvo - love that car. Part two coming soon in a reel 📽️
