Looka that smile... I couldn't be happier for the kindest, hardest working time-keeper (on his wrist and in his pocket). Congratulations , my guy, and to all the artists and technicians involved with this record. @natesmithdrums - u deserve all the best we as an industry have to offer.

Out Now! Flowers at Your Feet ft. Van Hunt Recorded at Flóki Studios in June under the never-ending Icelandic sun, Flowers At Your Feet brings together Soulive’s unmistakable chemistry and Van Hunt’s kaleidoscopic vocal world. Produced by Soulive and engineered, mixed and mastered by Alan Evans, the track carries a lineage of influences that shine through Van’s performance, including Sly Stone, Brian Wilson, George Clinton, Thelonious Monk, Prince and D’Angelo. ⸻ Lyrics *space curves for migrant birds in winter days lace words with vibrant colors and we hit the stage strangers ring the doorbell and flee strangers sing carols and then leave flowers at your feet* ⸻ Music Credits Artists: @officialsoulive and @vanhunt Produced by: Soulive Recorded, Mixed and Mastered by: @alanevansmusic Vocals, Lyrics and Additional Instrumentation: Van Hunt Recorded at: @flokistudios , June 2025 Flóki Studios House Engineer: Wade Koeman Soulive: @erickrasno – guitar @nealevansmusic – keys Alan Evans – drums ⸻ Video Credits Video Creative: Flóki Studios and @wadekoeman Directed and Edited by: Wade Koeman Filmed by: Wade Koeman and Van Hunt Label Manager: Wade Koeman Shot at: Flóki Studios

car horn the background vocals remind me of Junie Morrison (Ohio Players, Parliament Funkadelic) and Otis Stokes (Lakeside), both from my hometown, Dayton, Ohio. a heart full of questions a head full of useless information slippery drums by @ferntully recorded by Greg Ryan ep mastered by none other than the illustrious @macmattey i asked her to give the recordings breadth without changing their "demo" feel. and she did it! #hungariansheep RIP Mark Howard

all my life i have heard that we are here on this earth  to love and to show compassion. and honestly, i have bridled at such instruction; because it asked me to show an act of love and compassion WITHOUT an action to use it against. in other words, showing love and being compassionate is not something i just walk around doing for no reason. i don't aggressively love people. -just like-  i don't aggressively hate people, either.   in my opinion, love and compassion is a reaction to an act of aggression. it is a form of self-defense. a martial art. it is a weapon. love and compassion embolden me in times of crisēs. it is something i NEED in order to de-escalate a situation. during times of peace i don't need any of that. in times of peace i am at ease. i am calm. i am a light breeze among the leaves.

well, Ai is here. and it has us all so freaked out. it reminds me of the time i played Pop Warner football - and my Blue Devils were going up against Forest Hills. this team was rumored to be big and strong and all-powerful. before the game i was literally shaking in my cleats. by the time the quarterback handed me the ball, i was so out-of-my-body with fear, it was as if an angel of death had taken my feet off the ground and floated me to the line of scrimmage; which may well have been the line between heaven and hell. later, someone showed me a picture they had taken of that very same running play. in the photo, both i and the Forest Hills defenders appear as we actually were - just children on a playing field. but even in the photo, through my football helmet i could see my eyes were saucers; as open as i could physically make them. as if i was sleepwalking through a night terror. i don't remember much beyond that. i know we lost the game. i know i went home and had dinner. and i know I'm writing you now. if i could go back in time and tell that little boy one thing before that game, i would say, "nothing is as alive as your emotions. they make you smell of love, hate, and fear. be thankful for it all, because it is the privilege of being human."
