This is an East African Garnet, almost color shifting deep grape to a mauve-y peach, a super unique gem like the woman who wears it. I made this piece in collaboration with @gemfluencer for one of our dearest friends @harwellgodfrey 💜 crafted entirely by hand in my 18k custom alloyed gold, a total one of a kind. And as always…made with love.

I’m so happy and proud to share this piece! I get emotional about the jewelry I make because I fall so in love with the creative process, the materials...This piece is no exception, this is a solid 18k yellow gold, custom alloyed neckpiece which is crafted completely by hand, a one of a kind. This is a Paraiba Tourmaline from Mozambique, it is exceptional material, has a super lustrous polish with excellent cut and clarity. It glows intensely neon in natural light and scintillates beautifully. Thank you to @gemfluencer for sourcing this stone, Dave’s eye for color is exceptional, our appreciation for color, quality of material and make is completely aligned. It is crucial that the caliber of material I present to my collectors is consistent in excellence and I always make sure of that. I created this piece in 10 days of studio time. I don’t like to work too slowly on a piece because for me, the momentum and frustration and passion is the key to success, especially the frustration because it actually guides with precision as to exactly what needs to be done. I pushed my self in the fabrication process. I wanted to see what would happen if I made the piece thicker, omit the chain closure I usually do and link with a more complicated mechanism. Sculpturally the piece commanded much more attention to detail and I aimed for a cohesive and conceptually sound design. The entire neckpiece twists and tapers simultaneously. The groove is hand carved, and the ends split and re-connect seamlessly, which was a serious challenge to do while keeping functional strength, but so worth it. The mechanism functions beautifully with one side linked and the other end becomes a hook to latch on with spring tension created by work hardening the metal. The “invisible” stone setting is handmade, prongs soldered into place and carved into three super elongated sharp claws, strong at 1.2mm thick but not noticeably distracting from the gem because of the shape and polish. As an artist who deeply respects their craft, I pour my soul into everything I make, I am obsessive about the entire process and all the intricacies and challenges involved, that is why nothing is ever molded or 3D ❤️ VF

This is my newest Las Olas Toi et Moi ring. This setting consists of one continuous undulating and waving line, crafted in 18k (custom alloy) yellow gold, as always a complete one of a kind, hand crafted and consisting of nearly 8 cts of natural pear shape diamonds. I’m obsessed with toi et moi jewels, the concept, the beauty, the love.

I’m so excited to share this piece. This is a type IIa, E, internally flawless, Golconda, 5+ct diamond. The Diamond is set into a total one of a kind, custom alloy, 18k yellow gold, hand crafted Curva setting. Type IIa diamonds are the most chemically pure type of diamond and often have exceptional optical transparency, they represent the top 2% in purity of all colorless diamonds. This is why this post is a compilation of videos, it was a challenge to capture the stone’s brilliance because of its perfect transparency. This client gave me the opportunity to make whatever I wanted with her stone and surprise her, and so I decided to keep the setting as open as possible on the underside and as shallow as the diamond itself. I stayed true to my aesthetic and created an undulating, tapered and twisting setting with a sharp split in the wire. Every piece I create in my studio is a one of a kind, crafted with love and entirely by hand, free from 3d print or molding for future replication. The goal is always to craft a conceptually informed sculptural setting which honors the stone. I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with such exceptional material. VF

This is a ~Fanta~ Super gem Mandarin emerald cut Garnet, flush set into a hand carved signet setting. Carved from a block of purple wax by hand and eye, cast in custom alloy 18k yellow, made with love, with rounded edges, not angular and ridged, but soft and smooth, high polished and tapered to wear alone or stacked up. The stone is set as low as physically possible to the finger, not Curva but absolutely special in that it is a one of a kind and carved by hand with only measurements by the eye alone. Love, love a classic bold setting, honoring the gem 🧿 color via @gemfluencer

I call this my classic Curva setting. It goes back to the original pieces I began sculpting years ago and holds strong as one of my forever favorite settings. Each piece I make for a client is made with absolute attention to detail but also with loving intention. I know that sounds intense but it’s true, I care for who I make each piece for. Every piece is conceptually sound, a foundation of design based on art, informed by emotion. I don’t ever want to find my self in the position of mass production or pumping out as many pieces as I can for profit. That’s not my goal and never will be, my goal is to make with my hands, to finely craft, to preserve the art of goldsmithing, to create sculptural art, and honor the gems I gravitate towards. So while this may be the most classic of my settings, I also find it to be one of the most beautiful. A tapered spiral forms under the diamond, which is shallow with a massive spread and unique cut, it undulates and wraps around the finger and meets back top, I source my gold pure and alloy with a unique formula to 18k, prongs are always soldered in and tapered to a claw. One of a kind, and completely hand crafted ❤️ @politradingco

This is my newest toi et moi Las Olas ring, set with a lovely Lavender Spinel and Diamond, handcrafted and completely one of a kind, made in custom alloy 18k yellow gold. ‘Las Olas’ translates to ‘The Waves’, a singular waving line, undulating and tapering, hugging two elongated pear shape stones set in opposite directions with less than half a mm of separation. Finally completed this impressive 18+ ct cushion cut, claw prong set, Blue Sapphire Curva pendant. Color via @gemfluencer ~ the setting is crafted by hand, a single wire grows from under the stone, wrapped around to the top forming both setting and bail simultaneously. I call this a cold setting because the bail is open, technically speaking it’s not closed with solder but left just open enough to prove its strength and durability in gauge and fabrication. It hangs from a splitting and twisting wire. This is different than two wires intertwining, it’s one wire which is tapering, and splitting, the interior of the split is rounded and formed to the natural curvature of the neck. It is hinged with a simple connection allowing full pivoting motion to slip on, and the other side has the most basic clasp of hook and eye with tension. Crafted in 18k yellow gold, custom alloy, one of a kind ~ This piece is sold. VF

This is a beautiful S-T color, open and bright cushion, diamond Curva ring with a carved splitting and undulating taper. The stone is incredibly shallow allowing for the diamond to be set in a super low profile, almost hidden… the piece is completely Hand crafted as always and total one of a kind, created in custom alloy 18k yellow gold. This is Curva Caótica, a chaotic and irregular linked bracelet. No two links are alike, each connection is totally unique from the next. Curva grows and becomes heavily informed by the mother of abstract art, Hilma Af Klint, whose goal as an artist was to paint energy which was invisible. Later, artists like Kandinsky and Malevich created works inspired by Hilma and built upon what she began. It became my goal to sculpt an exotic and fluid movement, to calculate how to best and most seductively communicate irrational, chaotic and exotic female energy. The entire piece is entirely handcrafted, and cold connected, meaning no heat was used in the connections but rather tension and work hardened gold. The bracelet is formed in over 100 grams of 18k yellow gold custom alloy and set with over 20 carats of a collection of exotic spinels, Fanta garnets and diamonds. I wanted to combine Tanzanian pinks, lavenders, bright mandarins and high color diamonds and create a palette against my rich, red gold. Every stone was carefully selected with the support of my collaborators @gemfluencer & @politradingco . This piece is a one of a kind and will not be replicated, made with a passion for excellence in craft, and with a deep respect for the conceptual arts, I love Curva Caótica and can’t wait to share the direction I am growing my work.
