Jazzing Around May Residency curated by
@vampproductionssg 🥃🎹
1 & 2 May — Jeremy Monteiro, Chok Kerong & Ben Scholz Trio
@jeremymonteiro @chokkerong @bpscholz
While Jeremy Monteiro is a beloved face at the club, these nights mark the debut of this specific organ-led trio. For the first time here, Jeremy moves to the organ, joined by the formidable Chok Kerong on piano and special guest Ben Scholz (USA) on drums. Expect soulful and swinging groove-filled jazz moving from bebop fire to funk-inflected rhythms.
8 & 9 May — Dira Sugandi (Special Show)
@dirasugandi
We welcome a voice of quiet authority. Dira Sugandi’s artistry sits at the intersection of soul and jazz — a sound refined by global collaborations and the UK acid jazz scene. In our intimate setting, Dira favors nuance and dynamics, delivering a performance of profound musical identity.
22 May — Glen Wee
@glenweemusic
Glen Wee brings a cinematic, atmospheric edge to the residency. Influenced by the urban realism of Edward Hopper and Wong Kar-Wai, his set is a "sonic journal" of life. Navigating the space between jazz and neo-soul, he offers a moody, reflective experience for the late-night listener.
29 & 30 May — Alemay Fernandez
@alemayzing
We conclude May with a vocalist of immense global stature. Alemay holds the rare distinction of being the only Asian singer to have fronted the world’s three premier jazz orchestras: Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and Jazz at Lincoln Center. Her presence is a study in poise and the commanding authority of that of a storyteller.
