My sister and I have been waiting for this moment for years, you have no idea how special it was to meet Jared this weekend at #Torontocomicon2025. He gave me one of the best hugs I’ve ever had in my entire life, he’s so kind and loving to every person he goes to take a picture with, even though there isn’t much time to talk because of how fast the shots happen. Jared tries to talk to you, making you feel welcome. In Mahahual, Quintana Roo, Mexico, a large tourism project called “Perfect Day Mexico” by Royal Caribbean is being planned, and it could seriously impact one of the most important ecosystems we have: our mangroves and coastal habitats. Mangroves are not just trees or empty land. They are living ecosystems that protect our coastlines, prevent flooding, store carbon, and provide shelter for countless marine species. If they are destroyed, the damage is long-term and often irreversible. Sea turtles, manatees, crocodiles, and coral reef systems in the area are all part of this fragile balance that could be affected. What worries me most is how quickly natural spaces can be replaced by large-scale tourism without fully understanding the consequences for local communities and wildlife.
