The techno scene has changed. It has evolved into something that nobody could have predicted just a few years ago. It has become mainstream, and with that, the hunger for power, money, and influence has grown exponentially. It has also started to attract people who are not here for the love of the freedom, self-expression, and safety the scene can provide, but for the opportunities and fame that come with it.
At the same time, this has created spaces where people in positions of power can exploit that power, while also fueling a counterforce of people trying to bring those in power down. Whether that is justified or not, we are not the judge or jury. None of us know the full story in most cases, and anybody reading this should know that nothing is ever truly black and white. Most things exist somewhere in between.
In the end, the only people who can change this are us. We do that by choosing not to support the people who do not deserve our attention, our money, or our energy. We are responsible for the scene we have created, which means we also have the power to change it for the better.
