This week #shawncotton said “Albums don’t stick no more at all... We used to be stuck on albums for months... years lol.”
Many would agree with him, so I thought I’d share why I think so many feel this way and if this is really the case.
This is a clip from the new episode (Ep 11) of Valholla NOW Radio and I breakdown my thoughts the “fading affect” of albums in the streaming era.

Imagine a world where AI music platforms aren’t just tools, but the next generation of streaming giants. 🤯
I’ve been crunching the numbers on Suno, and the shift is massive. We’re talking about them already paying out billions to rights holders who are now happily licensing their catalogs to the platform. But here’s the real kicker: what happens when that advertising engine turns on? Or better yet, when Suno launches its own dedicated streaming service for AI-generated music?
We’re looking at a future where these platforms could dwarf traditional giants like Spotify. If the payout trajectory hits $50 billion annually, the entire music industry ecosystem as we know it is about to flip upside down. Is this the end of the streaming status quo? Let’s talk about it.

Low nine figures or a flat $200 Million? 🤯 This massive music catalog sale has everyone talking, especially when comparing the valuation multiple to the artist’s rumored annual earnings (around $7M est.). Can we compare this sale to Justin Bieber’s reported $200M deal? The nuances of these multi-million dollar music rights negotiations are definitely not for the average consumer to fully grasp!

Spotify just removed over 75 million low-quality and AI-generated tracks in an effort to clean up the platform and protect real artists.
The company’s new AI policy sets stricter rules around spam uploads, voice cloning, and impersonation, while introducing official AI disclosures for music credits.
With Universal and Warner backing these changes, this could mark the start of a new era for how AI and music coexist on streaming platforms.
Do you think Spotify’s new AI rules go far enough?

Streaming 2.0 is almost here - and Spotify’s new tier is leading the way.
Spotify’s new streaming tier is coming and it’s dedicated to superfans. This means you’ll be able to pay more for perks like presale concert tickets and more things that haven’t been disclosed. I recorded this last Monday and one of my predictions seems to be spot on in regards to concert tickets. UMG and WMG have already signed new licensing deals connected to these tiers, expect a deal from Sony soon. It’s going to launch sooner than you think.

Splice revealed their genres with the most growth and decline on their platform and Pluggnb, K-Pop and Jersey Club is the top 3 in growth. Dancehall, Future Soul and Neo Soul is the genres with the most decline. Interesting numbers because these are the genres musicians are creating with on the platform.
