Continuing on That Thing In The Desert 2026 we spent our evenings at @dezdomestudio experimenting with varied instrumentation, a rotating cast of players and new sonic territories.
That Thing In The Desert 2026 was a legendary time! We’re so excited to be able to host this event alongside @itookthisphoto at @ranchodelalunastudio and have a few hundred of our closest friends roll through over the course of that week when everyone is in the LA area to get sick in a conference center.
More coverage to come from the evenings at @dezdomestudio . Thank you to everyone for attending and playing music and connecting with us and each other. Much love. ❤️
Did you know the Jotunn Series are available now? @trevor_morgue knows. We asked him to swing by @standardaudiorecorders and let rip on a 50 watt head. This is the result.
DM for pricing and details!
Friends gathered, meals shared,
amps humming late into the night.
A quick capture of good humans creating sounds & enjoying the vibe together at Desert Dome Studio.
Happy New Year all! You asked for it so here’s the whole jam from @ranchodelalunastudio with @itookthisphoto alongside @theejoeyc and @jonathanhischke !
This features the Jotunn 50 on guitar as well as the Odin for bass. We haven’t made drums though (yet?) enjoy!!
We asked Dave Catching of @ranchodelalunastudio to put together a bit of a jam in celebration of the Jotunn series launch (Available for purchase now! DM us!) and this is what he made with the help of some friends. (@theejoeyc and @jonathanhischke )
We should probably release this whole track right?
Beyond excited to provide some signal amplification for @earthlingsquestionmark on their current run. Great way to kick things off last night @pappyandharriets ! Have fun gents!
We set up a mic, rolled tape, and let Brian Grilli do what he does. The Rancho combo caught it all - every nuance, every push, every pull. No retakes, no distractions. Just the player and the amp. Ok, that bottle of Rancho De La Luna Mescal was a bit of a distraction.

We caught up with David Catching, the day after his birthday celebration, to talk tone, collaboration, and the spirit behind Valhalla amps. This short interview captures the feel of the desert, the lore of Rancho, and the kind of insight you can’t teach. Full story at ValhallaAmplification.com

A few people asked so here’s the details. The guitar @alainjohannes played in the @ranchodelalunastudio amp demo (posted yesterday!) is an @echoparkguitars Downtowner. We absolutely agree - it _is_ gorgeous, especially in Alain’s capable hands.
Alain Johannes, a guitar, a pedalboard and a prototype Valhalla 2x12 combo built in collaboration with @ranchodelalunastudio . We asked for five minutes. He gave us an hour. This is just a glimpse - 90 seconds of feel, fire, and fuzz, captured in the desert air at sunset. The Rancho De La Luna combo is coming soon.
What you're hearing is the first signal.
