It was fantastic to host the Q&A with London-based, Zimbabwe-born artist @duncanwyliepainter for the UK launch of his new monograph, Multiple Realities, at @hatchardspiccadilly recently – published by @anomie_publishing and produced by @hurtwoodbooks , props too @rachels_caravan .
We discussed many aspects of Duncan’s fascinating work, from the architecture he features, to political events such as Operation Murambatsvina and the Grenfell and Notre Dame fires, his interests in water divining and Harare’s swimming pools – where I also learnt to swim! – as well as seeking roots when your own roots are unclear or disrupted.
The publication features an introduction by adelaide.bannerman, an essay by @marc.donnadieu , an interview by @singerjuliette and chapter introductions by @valeriekabov from @firstfloorgalleryharare . And of course dozens of prints of Duncan’s incredible work. Go find those copies!
