Four more paintings on Tibetan paper (76 x 51 cm each), which are currently included in my solo show « The Dream Synopsis » in Paris, with @galeriepeterkilchmann .
This series of works on paper marked a new approach in my practice. I wasn’t confident while making them because of the unpredictability of the surface. The oil can bleed right through it if I’m not careful with layering; yet their handmade quality and thickness also makes them surprisingly robust. More importantly, they revealed a more vulnerable side of my process. While working on them, it felt like returning to an inner childhood, “back to basics”, forgetting the pressure around me and simply wanting to create images that felt gratifying for myself. I will definitely make more in the future!
The show is still on for 15 more days, until July 19th, 2025 🦎🥥

‘Compound III’, 2024.
Oil on canvas
130 x 100 cm
This painting was part of my first solo show with @galeriepeterkilchmann , « Mountain Stories – 蜀風», back in fall 2024 in Zürich. It was one of the first pieces (the 2nd one, to be precise) that I completed during my artist residency abroad, last May 2024. It was also the first time in my life that I was painting in China – a place that I struggled to call home for a long time of my life, until now.
On the occasion of @zurichartweekend 2025, the @swisspost collection printed postcard editions of it (A5 size); they can currently be found across different Zürich institutions, such as the Löwenbrau in front of the Migros Museum or at the Kunsthaus. They are free to take, if you spot them please grab one or two home! 🔖~
(In the meantime, my solo exhibition in Paris « The Dream Synopsis » continues to run until July 19th, with the ever supportive @galeriepeterkilchmann 🍀)

Now on view in Paris: Valentin Rilliet - The Dream Synopsis
We are thrilled to present the second solo exhibition with new works by Swiss painter Valentin Rilliet.
The exhibition’s title refers to Rilliet’s approach to creating his recent works through a more, open, associative, or dreamlike perspective, moving away from site and source specific themes that characterized his previous series.
In these new oil paintings and works on paper, the artist opens the narrative field of his practice, playfully creating a unique mythology through which he continues to develop his visual language.
On view through July 19,2025
11-13 rue des Arquebusiers, 75003 Paris
