The canopy of the west-facing terrace is conceived as an extension of the living room. “Il pergolato,” as it’s called in Italian, is a traditional shading system here. The canes filter the harsh sunlight, casting beautiful shadows while still letting the air flow freely.
In the bathroom, we used marble offcuts. We have included some images from our search for the right block for a much larger project, a few years ago.

Strawberry grapes always remind me of my childhood and the end of summer.
This was the inspiration for the terrace canopy — and honestly, I never thought it would grow grapes in year one.
What was once just a lightwell is now the soul of the apartment.
We enclosed it in glass, filled it with plants, and turned a void into a jungle.
