Wrapping up the photo series from Sri Lanka with this last batch. I'm thankful for each and every encounter. Often it's the people that make a place special.
I have some very exciting travels lined up this year.
Looking forward to all the new faces and places waiting ahead.
More stories coming soon.
Whenever I travel, I’m on the lookout for those serendipitous encounters that stay with me for one reason or another.
On one occasion, I found myself sipping buffalo-milk chai in the home of an elderly couple in a rural town. As I sat there, conversing more with gestures than words, the woman got up and opened a tiny cage. Lovingly cradling a squirrel-like animal in her hands, she explained —at least to my understanding — that it was lunch for their cats.
I’m still hoping something got lost in translation.

In the right circumstances, I quite enjoy striking up conversations with strangers.
In Sri Lanka I’ve had the pleasure of meeting a whole lot of different people from all walks of life. Not every encounter is a good one, but most are.
On the surface, you often seem to be talking about the same few things, but in the end everyone still tells their own unique story.
In many cases not through words. I don’t speak Sinhala, and many people don’t speak English, but I’ve come to learn, often there is an understanding that transcends spoken language.

Some more photographs from Sri Lanka - moving ones this time. This was a bit of a test run. I intend to shoot more of them on my upcoming travels.

Every now and then, my mind drifts back to the wide Saharan plains—walking the high dunes alone beneath a quiet night sky.
Earlier this year, I had the privilege of travelling through the Tadrart Desert in southern Algeria.
I now carry this place and its people very close to my heart.
I know I’ll find myself there again soon.

Being on the train in Sri Lanka and some moments and people captured on the way.
Even though i was sold fake tickets and had to stand for 3 hours of the 7 hour train ride, it ultimately turned out to be my favorite way of transport on that trip. I couldnt sit still in any case. Too much to see.

Travelling through Sri Lanka I kept wondering what it means to witness — to see without idealising, to question without dismissing. As a visitor, I found myself drawn to the beauty of tradition, yet unable to ignore the unease it sometimes carries.
Where do we, as outsiders, stand — as blind admirers, silent spectators, or something else entirely? Perhaps our role, is simply to witness and to understand. To look without presuming to judge, yet refusing to romanticize.

This is the first batch of photographs taken on my most recent trip to Sri Lanka in August this year.
Travelling from one coastline across the country to the other, the thing that struck me most was the variety, fragmentation, and yet seemingly peaceful coexistence of a multitude of religions and beliefs — a refreshing reminder that diversity itself does not necessarily entail conflict.

Just outside the town of Maras lies a peculiar archaeological site featuring a set of concentric rings carved into the mountain.
Their design allows for a temperature difference of 15 °C from top to bottom and is believed to have served as an Incan laboratory to test plants in various microclimates.
Back in April, I had the privilege of showing some of my most recent work as part of the group exhibition @abseits.ausstellung at the @ostlichtvienna gallery of photography.
Im so grateful for exhibiting in such a prestigious venue alongside so many other talended photographers.
Thanks to everyone who came by and took the time — whether through conversation or quiet contemplation — to engage with the work.
all pieces are available for purchase - feel free to reach out if you are interested

In Chinchero, Peru, a woman weaves bracelets and sells a variety of potatoes.
Despite the thousands of tourists flocking through the Sacred Valley to visit sites like Machu Picchu, life in the area remains seemingly unchanged - maintaining its rhythm and simplicity.
