School Braids 🌸 When I was a child the only time we were able to visit Sri Lanka was in the summer, when I was off on school break and my parents were able to ask for some holidays. To my 7 year old self, it felt quite strange to see my cousins and other children my age going to school during my idea of summer, whilst the only thing I had to do was to enjoy myself being carried around to places and complete my summer homework book. Somewhere in my brain lives this memory and a warm feeling of my cousins getting ready for the day. I loved their white uniforms with a bicolour the tie, it reminded me of Sailor Moon at the time. I loved their long hair getting combed, braided and secured by silky ribbons. And I loved their lunch boxes, as in the actual metal boxes you’d carry brief-case style. I wanted one so bad but I didn’t have anywhere to bring my lunch to. Maybe that explains my love for braids and lunch boxes 🌸
