I rarely show my face up on here. But this picture is special.
I used to be an excited and joyful kiddo making up stories and setting up action scenes in the garden, driving (I thought) my father's car, dressing up... As a teen I got closed off, completely shut, the fire of enjoyment: off.
Early adulthood, I wanted to get that blaze going again but it wouldn't and I lost hope, there were just ashes, I couldn't see the light. I thought it was over. But Life had me look at the ashes a little closer and I dug, and dug soiling my hands until I realised there was more under the ashes... a gleam. There it was, the passion and the energy I had some 15, 20 years ago, it was still burning underneath, there was enough fuel to get the flame back on! In fact it was infinite. It had never been completely off, it was the distance that made it look dead. I just had to clear up the pile of ashes to be dazzled.
For a long time I thought I had lost that flame inside of me forever. But the recent experiences and synchronicities in my Life have proved me that my Passion IS and will always be, vibrant and infinite, a resource I can always access, like a stream of water in the mountains. I am deeply moved and filled with joy to see that flame in my eye again as I'm closing the hard but rewarding chapter of my twenties.
An immense thank you to Darleen for capturing a moment I'll never forget. @darleen_m._b_photography π
Well, here again, I did it. Without any production support, I managed to pull enough resources together to get this project off the ground and make a movie! They say you have to create your luck so I guess I'm left with no choice but to create.
After writing about male friendships and communication between men in the previous film, the next project was inevitably going to be about the relationship of an estranged dad and his son: the difficulty of the unspoken and challenges of telling your family some home truths...
So Long Man (2024) was a movie that made me reconnect with my joy and lust for Life while Picking You up (2026) was a continuation and an affirmation of this vital need for JOY regardless of the hardship we all go through.
Filming this project has allowed me to understand my style better and has given even more motivation to keep on doing it! The 5 year old Valentin would have been extremely giddy and honored.
Because the I would be nothing without the WE. We did. All together as a team: Andy asking the neighbours to stop gardening between the takes, Jaan helping out moving furniture, Lewis pushing the wheelchair, Joel setting up the gear, Mark hitting the wall without any kneepads, Nick eating some raw jelly, Mikey helping out clearing out the space, Elizabeth suggesting a moonwalk, Zara improvising around a spoon, Caspian coming down to shoot those people in action...
The beauty of doing what we love and the importance of supporting eachother!
Oh the reward of seeing all the smiles on those faces and the generosity of spirit to contribute to the same goal driven by a passion for storytelling, thought provoking entertainment and eventually the magic experience of collaboration.
Create (your luck).

I had the joy of acting in SOLACES shot in June 25 on Film (ποΈ) for the London Film School. I loved hearing the rolling of the reel! Like I'd always known that little addictive clinking melody...
Another pleasure was to collaborate with those wonderful people. π As always with Cinema and many things in Life, it is about the people. They make the difference.

SO LONG MAN (2024) π¬
"It's time for a change..."
A film that has changed the trajectory of my life, as a creative and as a simple man. After a difficult decade of insecurities, self-depreciation, doubts and all the works, making this short film as I was entering the tricenarian era (yeah, had to look that up) I started to see people and things around me in a different light reconsidering my Life choices on the way but also reaffirming my Super objectives (I have many but some are always first in the line) some I couldn't dream of anymore... But there they were those bug bright clear synchronicities!
It feels so good to be back! 2025, I'll be at the door.
