Winning the @worldchoreographyawards for Commercials on the same night that @kennyortegablog is being honored for his monumental career is a surreal experience. Being in a room that held greats of an industry I have long admired, was humbling and expansive. To be congratulated by people I have studied since I was a child is an experience I will never forget. Thankful to all who made this possible. @ellisgram for giving me the opportunity to choreograph my first commercial. @jusfatima for seeing something in me and giving me the chance to show myself as choreographer. @robynwilliams_ for taking the vision to the next level. To every woman who trained, mentored and guided me on my path. To my mother who gave everything she had so that I could train. My father who has been nothing but the definition of support. And of course to Whitney Houston, the voice that continues to inspire the masses. This is just the start 🚀

I met @emilwilbekin at a dinner last winter and was so struck by his magnetism, intelligence, style and warmth… I knew this was an energy I had been seeking. We got coffee and I learned more of his story, the legend he is. The culture he created at Vibe, Essence and Afropunk is the blueprint for so much what we see and experience today. A tremendous educator at FIT, I was inspired for my own teachings in seeing how he gives back and guides the creatives of today.
A year that has been one of extremes, moments like this ground me and I am able to see the bigger picture. Community, representation, authenticity and growth… that’s what its all about. Thankful to teach, thankful to create, thankful for the those who have created the opportunities I have today.

I continue to be blown away by the wisdom I find on the streets of New York. It makes me realize the story I’m telling is connected to so many others who have felt like an other. @othertheplay
August, I loved you.
Witnessed my best friend get married in Hawaii, surrounded by my mom and my oldest friends. A quick gig in LA, doing what I love. A recharge in the sunsets of my hometown. Then back to NYC for two weeks of laughing on the job. High vibin and full mooning along the way.
